I had no clue where to put this, but is it possible to use other colours besides
Grey
Red
LightBlue 1 & 2
Green and Light Green in the Breifings
Yellow
White
Invisible?

Ive noticed that B-net has an Aqua text format, and some darker shades of yellow. Also, in Monopoly Bound 2, there is a tealish type of text that isnt found in SCMD of SF. Im wondering if we could maybe extract these files and use them for our own descretion.

u can mix colours like with overlapping, it wont change the colour but it can look like a different text. but no there isnt any other colours. the only colours are the ones in sc xtra scmd or starforge, those provide u with the only colours

Woa, how did they get the different colors?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Cole on 2006-07-14 at 18:39:11
There could be more colors than those in Scmdraft 2 and Starforge. I believe how Starcraft refrences colors is by defining Ascii characters above 126 or below 32. Colors above or below these are special characters not used for text. Some designate a new line in text files, others for printer ports, etc...

You would have to directly edit the CHK in order to change the color and well the colors we don't already have are not documented so you would have to figure them out on your own.

I'm probably gonna ask CookieJar how he used the new colours, perhaps after we get this new "DATA (disk lol)" we can implement them into our maps. And if ANY1 knos ANYTHING about these colours please post HERE. Also, Invisible really ISNT INVISIBLE at all! It is just hard to read. Invis also cuts out the letter next to it.

Also, Min, whats ascii?, how do we access them (better yet how do we access and mod CHK files?) If they involve invalid characters and info (if not random) like a USB port, or sumthing like that, i pretty much wont understand anything...

So ppl, what im trying to say is helpsmilie.gif me helpsmilie.gif you, by giving me (or just finding out urself) the info required to list name and report this CR@P to StormCoast so they can add it to the next version of SCMD, i might report it to Hemidal so he can fix up StarForge too!

Well in memory everything is stored as numbers. Ascii is a simple system that allows the conversion between the number in memory into a letter and vice versa.

Things you must know about ASCII and Starcraft
+Numbers 32 - 126 are used for letters.
----Uppercase, lowercase, space, special characters, etc..
+Starcraft stores ASCII characters as a byte.
----Everything in memory is a 0 or 1. A byte is 8 of these.
----2 options, 8 values = 2^8 = 256. Since were counting from 0 it becomes 255.
+Check from 1 - 31, 127 - 255.
----Why not 0 - 31 since were counting from 0? 0 is reserved for NULL and ends a string in the CHK.

What you need to edit these values manually
+MPQ Viewer
----Try MPQ Viewer
+Hex Editor
----Try XV123 it's free.

How do you edit the CHK?
+Using XV123
----Search -> Find -> (Text String, Down)STR
----Address -> Goto -> (Decimal, Relative Down) 2058
----These are all the strings in the map. They are seperated by a the hex value 00 and represented by a square in the text section.
----Do not edit the text portion click over to the Hex portion. Also if you don't know how to convert between hex and decimal I suggest you open up windows calculator.
----To open windows calculator go to Start -> Run -> Calc -> view -> Scientific -> Click on Dec, type in number, click on hex.

I believe the current colors we know of are on the lower end 1 - 31. I don't know if the higher numbers have been tested. I'm also not sure if they will do anything at all.

well to my knowlege, you can't create new colors in brifing with Xtra editor and scmdraft2. People always say they see new once but overlapping is your only original color you can get.. which doesn't do much at all tongue.gif.

Well the colors are simply different keys. I suppose there might be other ones besides the main ones, but I've yet to see any.

Could you upload this monopoly bound 2 into the dldb or post it someplace where I could get it?

The closest thing to teal in the Monopoly Bound 2 brief is gray... Unless I have an outdated version. =/

Or maybe because I'm using inhale.
BRB with edit >>

Edit: No teal without inhale running either. The only color that could even be roughly mistaken for a very dark teal is the gray.

They have the light green in monopoly bound 2, which is like the counterpart for yellow in game.

I did that, still no teal.
Although I did notice that with inhale on the P in Press Start flashes by itself, but when map hack is off the whole thing flashes. wink.gif
