like a bound only instead of a ling or ne other ground unit for bounder use a wraith or shuttle with upgrade for bounder and ground units for explosions makes it fun for maze traps and suck traps specially with shuttle

cor.. i'm sorry to say this.. but.. i'm sorry.. many a bound maps have been created.. yes.. many..

I'd give you a map link except I can't for two reasons:
1) I don't have the map
2) I don't have the map link

so we'll just have to wait for SEN's DLDB to get back in action so we can download some awesome maps!@

hmmm...wasn't there already a bound called Chicken Bound made before? It doesn't have the same exact stuff, but it does have the same name...

Yeah, there already was a chicken bound. Never played it myself, though. Just seen it a few times on b.net. I hate to break it to you, but this doesn't sound like a "new" idea. Keep trying though. Bounds could use something new, because they're all the same these days, and not worth playing anymore.

Actually I made a bound that your using a mutalisk with the morph to guardian ability instead of burrow.. Kinda weird bound..

I never made any longer versions of this bound.

I don't know make your own bound is has pretty good potential, if you expand on it enough it would be like a rp exept that it's a bound. Hey! I should make a bound called rp bound.

I don't belive something as simple as changeing your bounder even qualifies as a idea.

I could go off describing "building bound" where your bounder is a in-transit command center but its not a creative idea or even a good idea.

Sorry im just kinda anti bound because there is no creativity put into making the majority of them. And when people say there being creative all they have done is used a differant unit or made a pattern of explotions that they claim is new. The title or terrain also doesn't quilfity your bound to be creative.

I agree. Nevertheless, I had some ideas for a bound not to long ago, remarkably. I don't plan on making it, though, so if anyone else wants to the idea is up for grabs (guaranteed to be a hit):
  • Bounder can switch between ground (hydra), air (muta), and (possibly) water (in special areas with pylon glow sprites, but only for a time limit and maybe only after a certain item or ability is found) by morph toggling.
  • Air only, ground only, or underwater exploders and traps would be present.
  • Bounders have unlimited lives, but a slow wave of liftoff buildings moves from behind and kills (read: defeats) players who fail make it through fast enough.
  • Bound courses can have layers: players can take the air path, while avoiding junkyard ai flyers, or the ground/underwater path, timing according to exploders.
  • Theme based bound courses: Music bounds (exploders timed to music beats and pitch), battlefield bound (a battle is going on with mortar explosions, bombings, machine guns, etc. going on in dodgable patterns), etc.
  • "HP" for absorbing exploder hits or collisions (like with powerups or something).

I don't think any new bound is a good idea or original, all new bounds have only a difference on the name, but they pick up challenges from other bounds and so, name it new original Cable Bound -.- plz dun make more bounds.

Bounds are....old....and plain...and dry...and have run out on...they are just boring...And yeah there is a Map called Chiken bound....

i wonder wat the first bound was...

I belive its Snow bound.....Or IceBound...Gah I forgot...

But I wonder how a Bound was thought of in the First place....I mean who would think of dodging Explosions in a map ._.?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Kow on 2004-07-31 at 01:16:23
im sure it was thought of in a different game...

or maybe it was dodge units first tehn somone thought of making units die as obstacles...

I wonder where the term bound came from. Maybe dodge or something, the only one that makes any sense to me is Heaven Bound, because you are heaven bound.

The first one was SnowBound I believe.

The only way to stop bound infestation is to stop playing them, if nobody plays, nobody makes.

I've watched these forums for a while, never contributed anything, but I finally thought I'd register and add my 2 cents on this. I believe that the first "bound" map that was called a bound map was Snowbound. It only had very few "explosion" obstacles. Before snowbound, I believe there were a few "obstacle course" maps. But anyway, onto the point, the name bound came from Snowbound, which alludes to being stuck due to snow. So Snowbound was about escaping the snow, and becoming essentially un-snowbound. I guess the name stuck. I'm not a big fan of all of these bound maps now, though. Hmmm, yes there you go, take it for what it's worth.

Well, bounds are pretty old and at times repetetive and the name is a bit strange to me, but....

Most bounds that are fun include new ideas or factors,
and its very hard to create a new bound type... the bound types that exist currently are:

Platform: All in one or few platforms completing the levels.
Level-up: Players go to the top to complete the stages which reset them.
Tournament: Where the players last as long as they can within a set pattern.

These are the few bound types that currently exist, but creating a bound map that utilizes these factors can be a bit boring... and could cause for other people to dislike the map even before completing the map...

Including music or sound effects increase a bound's replayablility, but still cause for a repetetive feeling...

There are a few maps that have broken this tradition, but they include:

Is Bound: Players step into a 5x5 platform below and survive for a set amount of time to advance to the next stage. (created by: Mp)Squirrel)

d)R(agon_Bound: Players move about a 7x7 platform stepping over blue explosions to clear them. After clearing all blue explosions they advance to the next round. (created by: Red2Blue)

Chinese Bound 3v3: A separated Tournament Styled map with a twist.(created by: Misteeq)

Try playing these bounds, maybe they will give you a few ideas...
good luck in map making...

The first one was SnowBound I believe.

The term Bound was "coined" by KckKryptonite, creator of Snow Bound. Before they were named bounds there were several similar maps that were called "obstical courses". The first one "obstical course" was created by a person named Heroic-SCV (not sure of exact name)

Of course many things have changed since then, bounds have become primarily explosions and always on square terrain. Which is quite the reverse of the way they started.

I loved Dragon Bound and Chinese Bound. They were new, and frankly, hard. Out of all the bounds, I'd have to say those two are the only ones I've ever became fond of in my lifetime.

Gah There are too many bounds... I mean the obstacle courses were more fun back then... and people have gone so crazy trying to find a name they've done stuff like this:
1. Bound Around
2. Bound Bound
3. Gagged 'n Bound

It's sad, really. I mean, its sorta hard to remember back when bounds were actually fun and when peoples reflexes really sucked.. a lot...

Gah I know my idea for a bound... but you cant do it with editors i dont think... where the condition is if like this person is this state "burrowed, hallucinated, In-transit" and such. If you could i would make a bound where theres 3 types of explosions:
1. They hit you only when ur unburrowed (Wraith explosions most likely)
2. They hit you only when ur burrowed (I was thinking rhynadons...)
3. They hit you no matter what (Go archon explosions)

But of course.. you can't do that.
Oh well... bounds suck nowadays anyways... pinch.gif

I don't get the appeal to bounds. They're fun once in a while, but they get old real fast. Nothing more than memorizing sequences and learning the timing. Meh.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Red2Blue on 2004-08-01 at 17:25:43
I do belive that bounds are getting old... but in a way, they will always be one of the classic map types out there. Its so popular that it even got its own sub category in the map downloads! =P

People like to play bounds, because they have mastered unit movements which are dependant on the lag times and speeds. And they play because its always fun (to them) and to show off =D.

But, I have to admit... bounds get really repetetive... especially when someone copies levels... and uses them in all different bounds just with different names... *cough* heaven bound *cough*
