Ok well my mom just got this new laptop and for some reason it can't find the printer on the network. Can you guys help me out? If it doesn't work, I'll just make a new printer network.

What do you mean? I have wireless internet on my Dell Computer and it can access the printer that is connected to my computer with the rouer on it. Before, it just showed up in the shared printers list.

Is the printer directly on the network or through a computer that's on the network? If it's the latter, you might not have it shared or have given access to the new computer on the printer computer.

It's connected to my computer via a USB cable. That same computer has the router hooked up to it. How can I check if it is shared? And why could my dell desktop get the printer on the network but not the new laptop.

Control Panel > Printers and Other Hardware > Printers and Faxes > (has the printers that are already on, if any)

Go to Add a Printer > Next > Printer A network Printer or a Printer connected to another computer > Browse (if you cant find this printer, go to your computer its hooked up to, do the following)

Control Panel > Printers and Other Hardware > Printers and Faxes > Printer connected via USB, Right click on it and click on sharing, then yes or whatever, I think you can figure it out!

PM me if you run into trouble biggrin.gif

That's the problem, I was doing that on my computer earlier but the sharing box is checked for that printer. When I'm on the laptop and I do the browse thing, nothing comes up...

okay, in the past have you changed the name of the printer through properties? Because if you change the name of the printer a warning box appears saying that changing the name of the printer may disable it to be shared with other computers, or something of that sort, meaning it cant be shared. I have done this with one of my printers, luckily I have three of them. Only two that are on all computers!
