u kno how kids love to mess with things? Well yesterday this kid (me) was messing around with his map's CHK. files and accidently deleted a few set of strings... i thought my map was dead so i opened it up and saved it as another map. then i opened that map, it played just fine... but when i tryed to edit it in SCMD again, it said

Error+Unable to open map+IGNORE Protection

Yea, this has happened to me before. Im not sure about the solution to the problem yet though but it could have something to do with using StarForge and SCMDraft mixed with a map (if u use starforge).

I forget what the error said on mine. I think "Could not open (whatever the directory of the file name was)".

Did you also delete the Stirng offsets stored in the begining of the map?

Scmdraft 2 has techniques for detecting protection. When it detects it, it will refuse to open it. A technique that was used for protecting maps i'm guessing was by having a string offsett point to a null character which is exactly what you did.
