Okay, I broke my own rule, spent a couple of days on it, and got the ion cannon working. Now, there's some wicked hard techniques used in making it not auto attack, and making it have the right targeting. In effect, I had to edit both Dark Swarm and Stasis Field, plus adding another tech in to make it work. But it does. Here's what needs to be finished:
*Icons. I need someone to get all the icons into a grp file.
*Sounds. Okay, so I need a hit sound.
*Iscript. The working animation for the reseach facility needs to be finished.
Okay, for those who wonder, here's how the targeting works.
First, I used the Dark Swarm spell as a base for the Ion Attack. This allows for the attack not to need any fancy researching. This isn't the hard part, it was just allowing the cannon to use the Dark Swarm order. The problem was that it made the Dark Swarm spell use the ranges of the ion cannon's attack. Not good. So, I did a clone of Stasis field (using a different animation), and had to do a new tech thing...complicated as can be, but it worked also. It meant a lot of Dat Requirement editing, and it took me 3+ days to figure out how to do it right. So, it needs the iscripts for the defiler, arbiter, and ion cannon, orders.dat, techdata.dat, and weapons.dat(to an extent), to work right. If you want to mess with them, so be it. Just be careful about the iscript, if you overwrite the animations, it won't work(SC will crash when you try to use the spell if the animation isn't there).
If we can get the few things left done, it should be good. Enjoy.
Just a tip for you, but you should make it without those things.
They will never get around to the graphics/sounds,
and the last iscript I made for that should've worked, but yall said it crashed
No, the script worked. However, I had to mess around with it to make the orders work right. Almost everything I did was on top of your files.
I think most of the icons are done...it's just I don't have time to search for them and then try to compile. The hit sound can be done without....there are other sounds to use. The animation is just something I haven't implemented yet...I put it up for reference.
BUGS/IMPROVEMENTS
-Ionic Discharge should be 50 energy, not 100. (balance suggestion)
-Is there any way to right-click attack?
-If you pause constuction on the Ion Cannon, then try to resume, the SCV becomes stuck. Not sure about IRF.
-Can we have the charging animation run for the whole pause time between order and attack?

2. Ummm....no. Problem with that being that the right click attack takes the attack animation, but if I put that, it will start auto-attacking. I tried enough times to make sure about that.

should be"? That's one of the easiest things to do, simply edit techdata.dat changing the energy ammount
You forget, I used the complicated method of re-organizing spells to get it to work, I don't know if changing the energy will affect another spell....If it was a normal spell, and the other things weren't there, then you'd be right. However, I had to spend about 5 hours just on getting the energy right for every spell...and then about twice as much on the range...so I'm not going to say that it can be done, but it should be able to be done without messing up everything.
Doesn't matter, no matter how hard you try to make it otherwise (without hardcoding it), it will still be that way.

So, where can I get something that will make my SC version 1.13e? And will people use this mod if it is version 1.13e? We have to think about this.
You have to have a seperate install of StarCraft and then patch that to 1.13e.
Just use SCDowngrader And that is why I'd usually keep myself out of this kind of discussion. I don't know crap about anything other than 2D graphics and Counter-Strike.
It's perfectly fine. I'll finish the cannon today(I hope). If you want to...you can read over my proposed mod and start getting ideas for new models...just use the names for now. I'll have more later.
LINKY - CANNON!!! I'm done with this. I spent about 2 hours hex editing the .mgd file to get it so that you could change the energy of the ion cannon without effecting something else. If you have questions about how something works/want to make a balance change, just ask me.

But I guess graphics will be expected to get a new beam, since this one doesn't look so well.....

Its a nice mod, the beam does need some work, I sadly did it. =(, but I really dont know anything about SC ingame colors. Its nice though!
You guys do understand that when I said I was done doesn't mean the mod itself is done(I forgot too). Just so you know what I didn't do:
*Wireframes. Yes. It looks better this way. There's only 2.
*Balance. Is it balanced in a normal game? If not, you can change what needs to be changed on your own. Use DatEdit to see what weapon the cannon uses(it's labeled as an Unused Gauss Rifle), and the energy is the energy set for Dark Swarm(don't ask why, but it is. Changing this does not affect dark swarm at all). Which reminds me...where are our testers?
If someone else would please do these? From what I gather, DTBK wants to show off the Ion Cannon and recruit more people(seeing as how about half the team aren't on the team). I'm too busy to do the wireframes and don't have a connection to test the balance. Please do this.

You both made different versions of it and I don't remember which one we picked, you might as well drop it.
P.S. the wireframe should be easy, just get nirvana to open the model and turn wireframe mode, then make a screenshot.
