I'm about to make a map that would be set in a scene of present day.

The Storyline

At first a plane accident brings you, a countryside tactician/ warrior into the urbanisation. You were first asked to train an army to take over a remote area where the citizens refuse to become revolutionized in the same way as modern society. Your men were not well trained and due to an emergency blitz (surprise attack) you were captured by the remote town. Surprisingly they didn't kill you and you slowly learn the way of how they followed their traditions, spells and shadow discpline then finally notice this is what you have grown to love. Due to a summon to the Urbanisation, you were again asked to rearrange a well trained force to take down the remote area town. Therefore you have been asked to eliminate your everyday-life and what is now part of your soul. During leading the army to battle, you decide to betray and fight your way through enemy gunfire and unbelievable technology you and the town man had never seen. Then you hold a fortress with few men against the vast spreading dominating urbanisation army. During the last scene you decide to avoid any enemy possible to go to an ancient temple where an ultimate battle begins.

Ideas, Comments, Anything Welcome.. espicially CRITISISM ... I've started the terrain and constructed 2 fields, 1 dungeon and 4 skyscrapers.

P.S. I'm quite a bad map maker.

I think this map would end up very bad, the story lacks in almost every element, But the theme of magic versus machinery is something that I think you should stick with. If you made it with a guy fighting through huge high tech armies it would just be dumb and unrealistic, so try to make another, more realistic storyline with more PLOT, and realism and I think you could have a really good map.

EDIT: just realized that your idea is kinda like The Last Samurai (Best movie ever.)

Thanks Everyone.. maybe i should change the Storyline.. since so many others like this one have been made.

I made some screenshots of the city and land..(since someone asked for it) here it is.

This is the scene where magic is casted on the Skyscraper. If I continue with the "technology vs magic" idea, I'll post spells and abilities as soon as i update them.

This is the scene with the gate when you are about to venture into the wild.

I'll update this when i get new ideas.

P.S. This is the first time i posted screenshots.. dunno if they will appear rite.

I really liked your skyscraper. Very cool looking. Aside from the point, I think someone mentioned adding more realism to the game... wtf? Since when do ANY maps have the slightest bit of realism? Show me one. I dare you. Anyways, hope to see more info and screenshots of your game, man.

The scryscraper looks all right to me. I don't see why you have ramps though. The idea of magic vs mechanics is something I quite like, stick with that.

I thougt u said u suck at maps.....

Thats an awesome town
and when you think about it. The idea is sort of liek The Last Samurai only magic and machines not Swords and Guns

Sounds cool, post more screenshots bout it, and bout realism on maps its senseless, the fact that u name a Terran Ghost "Archer" is already unrealism, so 99.9% of all maps are unrealistic, but nobody cares.

Thanks for so many people showing interest in my map. ^___^

Don't expect too much though because this is my first rpg map i had ever made.

sad.gif Sorry to say.. the only field I am good at is terrain making.. (which probably everyone could do) I'm currently using starforge to place all the doodads using square tiles by hand .. which is a real pain the ass because it takes so long for a 256x256 map. So therefore the only thing i could do now is terrain, terrain and terrain.. which means all i could do is post screenshots of the terrain of my map. Soon you people should be losing interest in them soon. But when i started really doing the spell and special effects triggering (which I'm not so good at) I promise i will post some more screenshots and give more details.

P.S. Since I'm making 2 rpg maps .. I tried merging Urban Rpg and the Forbidden Castle Rpg together into 1. Any ideas how these 2 topics could relate?

Screenshots: (From Forbidden Rpg (Merging with Urban Rpg))

During a bridge from the Desert to the Elvish City. The Bridge is actually longer than this. You can see a trapdoor on the bottom left. It leads into a dungeon which their is a beast you have to terminate before proceeding to the Elvish City.

This is a part of the jungle people journey through on their way to the Elvish City.

Elvish City Entrance.. I'm nearly done with the city now.. since school started i can't work on it much. Look at the awesome lights (bunker overlay) i put on the bridges biggrin.gif

(Yes people, you have seen this use of sprites in the Legacy of Hæan Rpg by qPirateKing)

I lack originality and nothing is preventing me to use its style on my own map.
Sorry qPirateKing if you are angry with this.
