700 hundred by no means is pushing it for a computer. Decent desktops are usually in the 800 range anyways, and I've seen them get in the thousands. Look up what you can get at Best Buy/Comp USA for 700 and then compare to what you have there. Its practically a steal to make it yourself.

Uhh, motherboard is build for DDR2 800, yet you get DDR2 533? Major waste of money on mobo/ram if you're conly getting a 3800+ and 6800GX.

It's also a major waste to get a mobo with onboard video if you're getting a graphics card anyway.

Hey, if I could get DDR2800 and a 7600GT I would, but.. I'm not that rich sad.gif The 6800XT is a good average video card, 350mhz core clock which is alright, with 1000mhz memory clock, that's higher than like a 7300GS.

I might look into buying a new motherboard, and getting one that supports sLI, because I could probably get another video card for Christmas, but if that's the case, then I'd probably need another PSU, 500W isn't good enough sad.gif

I know. I sort of jumped on the first motherboard that had SATA2, because newegg makes it really hard... having to click on every motherboard sad.gif

For a computer, it's not pushing it, but for my birthday, it sort of is sad.gif

Yeah, BestBuy and CompUSA are horrible when it comes to pricing, especially for pre built computers sad.gif The best way is to put it together yourself smile.gif

http://www.pcmech.com/byopc/ is a good tutorial for novices, and it could save you tons of money XD

I'm not telling you that you must get better graphics card/processor, I'm saying if you have not as good ones, then you don't need the power of DDR2-800.

I mean I'm still on good ole DDR-400 and an IDE hard drive (the horror!) over a 7900GT and 4000+

I dont remember but doesnt the retail already come with a fan? Get an OEM proc if youre buying an aftermarket cooler.

Yeah I guess, even though if I do chose to upgrade on it, I will be able to. I mean, it's an socket AM2 and a sAM3 processor will be compatible with it, so I guess I guess I'd be sticking with this mobo for a while. =\ (Won't really make a difference to me, without the HT3 because I probably won't be getting a quad core any time soon..)

Hey, I'm on an IDE too, 160GB(90 dollars last year, and it was a damn maxtor I think..).. I didn't have any SATA slots, this is an old motherboard sad.gif
