i wanna know what programs i need to make my own unit graphics like in the Versus Nintendo Mod and if i can do it with paint because i dont have any big picture editing programs and i dont wanna pay 300 bucks for sumthing like that

Yes, Paint is fine, but you won't make any pretty graphics in it.
Get GIMP. It's free. Or use The Pirate Bay

GIMP's ok, although it takes a bit before you get used to it, to be honest.
