Its by the same director, right? Argh I cannot stand his work because he redoes the same film over and over again (Ju-On, that is). I'll probably see it, but right after I plan on writing many hateful things about it.
Hmm that leads me to believe we should get some movie reviews going here.
Well, the movie had more "disturbing" images, and was a bit better than the first, but I still believe it was just okay.
I just saw this movie today with my parents and here are my thoughts about it (I'll try not to give any spoilers):
If you are going to watch this movie, you better do it in a movie theater with a huge screen, a good sound system, and no little kids sitting near you.
The first Grudge movie was better in my opinion. This movie is mostly about "scariness" and not necessarily a good story line. It was mainly because of the ending (which is pretty much the same reason for most other horror movies' failures) which I thought was bad.
I would say this movie is alot scarier. You see the child and mother ghost more often, but for some reason, the mother ghost just doesn't seem as scary or mysterious now, especially when you get close-ups on her.
*SPOILER*
The influence of the curse is now stronger because of the fire that was started at the end of the second movie, so now whoever walks into the house, not only will it affect them, but it will affect people around them too. It's a contageous disease now.
*END OF SPOILER*
There was one part which just made me go "Wtf?" You'll know it when you'll see it. It was so random.
This movie also seemed to use many elements from other movies like The Ring and maybe Dark Water (I guess they're all japanese and by the same director afterall). For instance, there's one part where this one guy was examing photos in a room with red light (i'll give this spoiler away since it was on the previews) and the woman ghost appears out of the water, kind of like when the ghost from the ring crawled out of the TV.
In my opinion, I thought movies like this were pretty creepy. I really hate music effects and the unexpected scenes of ghosts. If you're ever going to watch this, you better do it in a theater.
