Staredit Network -> Modding Assistance -> Saved MG .exe won't run correctly
Report, edit, etc...Posted by AngryPoonani on 2006-08-10 at 03:13:06
For some reason when I try to run the .exe file I made with MG, the file there is a message that comes up that reads:

Starcraft has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

The basic error report of a program not functioning correctly with windows...

I basically did the exact same mod that was in the pinned "how to make a mod" post except I didnt mess with the scv, instead I attached a stimpack button onto a medic and gave it all the necessary requirements and flags and all that fun stuff so that it would function properly. I did all the button changing on SG then saved a pat and loaded it with MG and then I saved release... got the .exe and .mpq and put them into the sc folder and opened the .exe file. Then:

Starcraft has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

so is it the stimpacks? are they just not liked? I havnt tried adding any other buttons because I've been futally trying to make this one work... The funny thing is, the .exe file will run only if starcraft has just been installed and has not updated 'at all.' But there are no changes to the units and it crashes at every chance possible... usually when there are not enough minerals to make something, or when there is not enough supply, usually whenever I get warned that I can't do something. The .exe also crashes when I use cheats.

recap: it won't run on any updated versions of SC... blah (and by SC I mean BW as well since I am after all editing a medic) "DUR DUR DUR"

Ok... that about it, any help would be much appreciated!

Memgraft doesn't work for the current patch, and requires you to downgrade to it's version to play mods made with it.

It won't run on any of the updates... this includes:

1.07 to 1.13

Is MG not backwards compatable with older versions such as 1.13? (That is what I am running now)

Memgraft is compatible with it's own version in each one, try to sync starcraft and memgraft's patch version...

example: memgraft 1.12b doesn't run with starcraft 1.13e, neither does 1.11b or any other version.
to fix this, look at the version the memgraft you have is made for, then patch starcraft to that same version.

The DLDB notes that this version of MG (1.13e) is backwards compatible, but this was obviously a LIE! ranting.gif

Do you happen to know where I can get a copy of MemGraft 1.12b? boxed.gif

There's a few things wrong with that page in the DLDB. That's one of them. I didn't do it.

Report it then. That's what DLDB Keepers are for.
