If you read the latest news post, IsolatedPurity explains that he set all the people with over 10,000 minerals and all the people with negative minerals to 2,000. So in essence it does have to do with the hack, but IP did it, not the hacker.

lol, i think i got screwed over for this deal. after the initial hack, i was at like -111 and then some repair work(topics restored) after the second hack was done, i ended up at 0 mins and didn't qualify for the negative mins bonus.
