Ok, so I recently purchased a laptop from Staples. I'm currently curious and somewhat worried about any unknown reasons for any possible batery damage. Should I allow the battery to fully drain then recharge, should I recharge often? Is it ok to run off the adapter with the battery recharging/fully recharged all the time? This thing cost me a lot of money and I don't want to damage any component so I need to know the info on these things. If anyone truly knows the answers, please don't hesitate to answer! It would be greatly appreciated.
I'm not exactly sure about everything to do with the battery.. but I do know these...
Laptops usually have a setting to hibernate if the battery is too low, making it nearly impossable to drain it completely.
It doesn't matter if the laptop is plugged in and on while the batter is full, because it is not using the battery.
Thanks.
ADDITION:
So I assume it's ok to run the laptop via ac adapter without the battery in the laptop itself as well to save battery charges?
I've never tried that. I would think that you need the battery inside of the laptop to do that. When I use my mom's laptop I leave the battery in so that it charges when the AC adapter is in.
Yea, you can run the laptop directly from the ac adapter without the battery. I've seen it done with a Toshiba.
Oh I never knew you could do that. Did you guys hear about recall Dell is having because their batteries explode?
