Well this a small question but before you post think about it. Would the world be a better place if there was no WWII. Meaning that there would of been no Halocaust, no atomic bombings and all the other thrash that was included in this global conflict. But still didn't it lead to development after the war so that could of ment Japan going all economical or Jews being degraded. And also when they moved the jews to were the palistinenes (sp?) were and cause all this middle east crisis.

But whats your view. Should world war 2 of happend and remain its place or should it of never happend.

How much of WW2 are you saying never happened?

As in, hitler never existed, or hitler was still around and in power but the war never started?

If it was the latter, then it would probably be hard to tell, as it could of been worse by Hitler getting the right timing, and the surprise attack never happening, and hitler never sleeping when the call came for the order to mvoe the tanks up (Im talking about the where the invasion of germany's current territry began..)

Its realy hard to predict.. one would have to be able to predict the actions of many of the people that were influencign the world at that time and place..

The world would certainly be a more crowded place.

The U.S. and the Soviet Union would not have become the global powers they would come to be. Many advancements in civilian technologies would not have been first innovated in WW2 (if ever).

Basically, we'd be lucky to have 1950s technology nowadays if it weren't for the changes brought about during that time. tongue.gif

Also, there wouldn't be Saving Private Ryan or Schindler's List, two movies that I love very much.

Many countries wouldnt be in the U.N.?

Eastern Europe wouldnt be as poor. The United States wouldnt of made so much money. Millions of lives would have been saved. I dunno i guess thats it.

Serious war = advance in technology.

The people were a coin to pay for the technology we got. For example: would they rush to split the atom so much ? No. So there would be no nuclear bombings at the cost of decades of nuclear power experience.

But the main factor is that many lives would of been saved. Look at the halocaust and the atomic bombings. If that never happend people wouldnt look at jews in a diagonal way and the japaneese would sell more sushi and merge with china.

It wasn't worth it at all. There's no point in thanking the war for technology. We don't even need advanced military technology, all it does is speed up the inevitable doom of ourselves. For what little the war helped us (if it helped us at all), the millions upon millions of lives lost were definitely not worth it. But then there are the video games. GG

Or, it may be some deranged dictator who detonates it first. Remember, Germany wasn't too far away from the nuke either.

You forget that many countries were anti-semantic at that time. It was even rampant in North America. Remember the St. Louis? How about the Japanese invasion of China, which started with the invasion of Manchuria in 1931? How far are you going to change history?

I personally believe that if World War II was not fought, something worse would have taken its place. The whole world was going through an economic depression, and the last time that happened, we got World War I.

Some say we wouldn't have developed nuclear technology as fast without World War II. Perhaps. But remember, the fundamentals are there. I believe that if we postponed World War II, we'd probably end up with a war with countries tossing nukes at each other. Or we'd end up with something worse than the Holocaust.

World War II taught us what atrocities we humans are capable of. It is perhaps the reason why the Cold War didn't end up "hot". No one wanted another World War after seeing the things done in World War II. Without it, we would not have the United Nations, but rather, be left with a defunct League of Nations which would have never been able to prevent nuclear war.

For those of you who harbour the illusion that without World War II, we wouldn't have nukes, keep dreaming. That would be the first thing we'd do with nuclear technology. Without the UN to mediate between countries, without the lessons of World War II to show us how low humanity can fall down to, we'd be living in a world which would have quite a significant increase in background radiation.

Better the devil you know than the devil you don't

we can't really live in a world without war especially for us humans...
on world war 2, probably even if hitler didn't start even start a holocaust, i'm thinking there would be someone to take his place instead in his time, who knows. most likely, there were people with views like hitler. with that much povery happening in eurpoe, chances are there are anger and greed arising on them and want to take their anger on someone else.
in a world like this, humans want war for wierd reasons. trying to boost a country's ego, for money, power, and for whatelse they want.

The British and French would still control the world.

It's very hard to say what you're talking about. If Hilter was still in power, but had never gone to war, he would have still massacred the Jews, and somebody was likely to step in and try to stop that, leading to war anyway.

If Hilter was never in power in the first place, Germany wouldn't have had the drive to do much of anything. There would be no war, so no Atomic Bomb or Rockets/Missle research. There would have been no need.

It was mainly WWII that kicked the United States up to "superpower" status, and mainly WWII that stripped that title from the British. I can imagine that the USA would still be the industrial superpower of the world (much like China today, history repeating itself?), whereas Britain would still hold the Military Superpower status.

Somehow, though, I can still see the USSR making a move to become a military superpower with or without the USA to compete with. It might have very well become a Cold War between Britain and the USSR, but then again, the USSR might not. It's all in the hands of factors we can't possibly know.

In short, no WWII or Cold War means very, very less advanced technology. The Cold War was the drive for the space program, mainly. I'm sure there were many, many other advancements that came out of WWII and the Cold War.

Plus, what would I have to be facinated with? I'm a WWII fanatic, and I'd hate to have nothing but WWI to live on. That War sucked in comparison.

No he wouldnt exist cause I said none of those events wouldnt of happen if there was no WW2. Also its a good thing if there was no A-bomb. Don't you remember the atomic clock. (the invisible one) Albert Einstein says that were at the peak of destruction. 2 more A-bombs dropped and its the end of the world.

Atomic Bombs let to Nuclear Power plants amongst other great nuclear innovations. Much of what we currently know about atoms is a product of the atom bomb's research.

i think one certain thing if ww2 didnt happen then the U.S. would be in debt from the great depression. ww2 helped the united states get out of the great depression
