No offense but... what's going on in this forum these days? Where is this Mod Team, and all the shiny new mods? I'm debating starting to drop not so subtle hints that you might want to start fleeing to Clan [MM].
Well, the leaders (DTBK and DoA) refuse on starting on a mod untill the "practice" mod is finished,
which everyone's too lazy to work on since it's boring to just mod one unit...
I think that sums up our history pretty good, and in only 2 sentences!
ADDITION: we also have a bunch of members listed that left, we only have about 4 real members now. (only 3 active)
The 'practice' mod only needs the icons added into it. Other than that, it functions(oh, energy changed too...).
I am devoting my time to Firegraft, a tool for modding. It also meets with my 'job' of Crack Programmer...so, no foul there. Also, ideas for a mod have been rather strongly requireing a mem patcher(which is what FG is)....
I would like to make the icons but "Pauper" the one that comes once in a while to criticize us that we don't do anything compromised himself of doing them, if i was asked to and recieved apologies from pauper i would do them.
Besides everyone is using

I don't see why nobody on the graphics team wants to do any work. The problem with this team is we have zero graphics talent; just a bunch of shirkers.

Ok, well I did my work, and no one told me what to do.
The way I see it, we really need 2 things -
1. 3D animators to make unit models. Probably 2 or 3 that are fairly good.
2. A directed idea. Like a TC or major mod that would keep everyone busy. Given the right tasks at the right time, there'd be work for everyone.
Without the first, we can't do most of our ideas, even if FG was done. I'm not the one directing this show(never have been)...but those are my suggestions. As I've posed to several members, some a part of this team and some not, I have a large idea that would qualify for #2. Getting artists is a different matter. I'm sure most of the team members could do concept art...but modeling isn't something we are strong with.
If we could get a couple of committed 3d artists+refill/reorganize the other positions, we could really take off with my idea. It's something I think could happen...but it takes cooperation and some 3d modelers.
Something to 'chew' on. I could just be rambling on, I'm tired...but if it sounds good, why not try to get us doing stuff?
ADDITION - Oh...I forgot one other thing. My idea(which would work for us, I think) would have to be tweaked to fit an entire team instead of just 1-2 people working on it...if anything is to be done with it for the mod-team, I'd be nice to have a 'heads-up' so I can get everything organized right...

I can do the modeling and animating, I just can't render it in order to paint it, or render the final model into bmp's...
If you all want to spread this around, anyone who does come to the team as a modeler will be entitled to recieve a slot in FG's beta test. So far, I have about 4-5 people(not a part of this team) and anyone who is a member of this team is my tenative beta testers...if I ever get there.
The guy at Project Revolution is good, he is making his own mod.
And if anyone needs buttons, I'm the one to go to. Buttons! Buttons and other 2D art.
Gimme a sec to look in the main topic and check for any button work outstanding.
*Icons. I need someone to get all the icons into a grp file.
*Sounds. Okay, so I need a hit sound.
*Iscript. The working animation for the reseach facility needs to be finished.

When this Summer Modding Contest (SMC) ends, I think we should start on an actual
project, whether we get the leader's permission or not.
After all, if their leadership is telling us to do nothing and wait for them while this team falls apart, I say we ignore them.
Wouldn't having an un-successful mod be better than having no mod at all? (the few that are still active could help with it.)
Unfortunately, I possess neither the skills nor the technology to collect everything into one file, and my parents are very picky about downloads.
Well, as I've stated before - I have a mod idea that will take everyone on the team to work on....Voy can vouch for it(he's seen it)
And the Ion Cannon mod only needs those few things(meaning I get to remake the .mgp file....I was stupid and took shortcuts and didn't use SG...)
Mainly, I don't have time to make all the icons into cmdicons.grp. I just need someone to do that, tell me what index the new icons are, and I can get that done. That's really the main thing I see undone with it. Looking at BLANK is not good.
DoA, can you post what you already have on this mod you keep talking about?
I'd like to get a look at it, improve some ideas, add my concepts/ideas, etc.
Also, we could actually make your mod once the Summer Modding Contest ends, so showing me your ideas could help with the planning stages, making it easier to start it.
Okay, below is a copy of a txt file that gives a very general idea of the mod. The specifics are still being worked out...mainly so I can keep balance. A lot of ideas I have require stuff that FG would do, because that's how I planned it.

Okay, here's some stuff that I've got...(best viewed with Lucidia Console(or another fixed font)
Race Descriptions(between these, the names, and the trees, that's all you can see. The rest is just ideas in my head:
This race is a unique race, with 2 polar oposites during the course of the game. The base units are cheap, 2 in 1 egg units. They have spells that are self targeting. They're your meat and potatoes units, designed to allow for macro focus at the beginning of a game. After that, most units become high cost spell casters. This demands the abandonment of macro for a heavy micro focus. Their spells are high cost, but overly powerful. However, to decrease the need, supply will be rather well handled by the buildings. Burrow is used for this race, however, they do not appear 'underground', it becomes more of a phase-out. But, their main power is their air units.
This race hurts you, and it hurts hard. Most units are heavy units that deal insane amounts of damage. Their economy doesn't really need much attention, but the supply does. Their techs are specialized, and you best not make a mistake, because the cost is too high to go back from, and there's some things you can't cancel. The tech tree is a semi-addon based one, but balanced so addon-swaping doesn't happen. Of course, since there are't too many units, the mobile buildings move fast to expansions. Theirs is a balance between air and ground units. when a decision for a tech is made, the addon is created, but the parent looses liftoff capability.
The ground to rule all ground. Their early units are not all the best, but have enough to hold stuff off. Their spellcasters are meant to help in early-mid game. Their air units also come early, but aren't strong. Once tech is hit in mid game, it branches to the higher air+med ground, or to the strong ground. The ground maxes the supply fast, so the other option(on the first side of the tech) is to nuke(not a nuke...similar...). Early game is macro, late is up to the player.
TECHTREES. It's not all that much to get the entire tree from...but it's enough for me right now. If it isn't formatted right, you didn't listen when I said fixed system font.
