Staredit Network -> SCMDraft -> Problems with TrigEdit
Report, edit, etc...Posted by ZPD on 2006-08-27 at 11:19:30
First and foremost I apologize if this problem has been mentioned before. I have a look at this site about once every two months nowadays and I'm currently in England with my family using a Windows 98 on dial-up with a resolution worse than StarCraft, making the Search function psychotically tedious to use. >_< Also, this keyboard has a different format than what I'm used to, I'll do my best.

To the point, TrigEdit messes up my triggers upon saving/debugging/whatever the checkmark thing is. If I save the map and then do something in X-tra that touches Strings, then all my blank comments take on that String. If I delete it, they all take on a different string. Using something like ProEdit to unrecycle the Strings doesn't help because then every String gets flooded with whichever one is being used by all the Comments and the String limit gets shot making it entirely messed up in X-tra.

The reason this is a huge problem is because my map uses a hell of a lot of triggers enabling people to play a variety of board games. I did half of the backgammon triggers showing players which moves are valid when they select a checker to move when I realized I had the directions inverted for the players.
I realized I had to ammend approximately 550 triggers. T_T Luckily, I just had to switch which players the triggers affected so I copied them from TrigEdit into Notepad and used the Replace All feature a couple of times until I got everything corrected. Pleased with the easy fix I put everything back into TrigEdit and saved. I tested it in StarCraft and it worked fine, awesome! I then opened the map in X-tra to do more work, the triggers fudged up when I tried to edit them, not so awesome.

This has happened to me before but I didn't know the cause of it so I just went to a back-up version. This happens whether I change the triggers or not, I just have to save/debug/whatever in TrigEdit and this happens. I really don't want to spend a huge amount of time going through 550 triggers in X-tra or StarForge slowly changing players and switches so I'm hoping someone knows the cause of this problem and can offer a fix. I can't upload the map or the triggers in .txt format because this computer hasn't a USB port but I can when I get back to the US. T_T Right now I desperately wish that .trg files stored locations. XD

I'll also mention I'm using SCM Draft 2.6 prerelease #9. The two most recent prerelease versions of SCM Draft crash when saving the map....

I've been working on this map since May and I haven't installed 1.14 on my laptop yet so I'm not using any of the new 1.14 colors or anything. I can't think of anything else that would cause this problem, I've spent hours doing everything I could think of to no avail.

I can't log into the SCM Draft bug/suggestions beta site, I don't know why. That's why I'm posting here.

One last thing, TrigEdit doesn't do anything to distinguish between a " and a " that's in a String written in Unicode.

I would be eternally appreciative if someone could help me with this problem. Thank you for your time.
