I say the BC..a group of 12 can be deadly...With the Yamato gun they can rip up your CC before you can say

Wakka Wakka

And plus BC 0wn Carriers...Arbs...all ground units...Defense...etc....Just 1 bc at the back of your base can at least hurt ur CC, nexus, hatchery/lair/hive really bad and kill a few probes/drones/SCV's..

Firstly, bcs do not own carriers, unless the dude with the carriers is a newb. Carriers can move a little while they attack, letting a player with good micro skills deliver more damage than the bcs. Anyways, I don't care for bcs or carriers. I like arbiters, for their wonderful support. A few arbiters can win a war. Cloaking plus recall plus stasis. Sweet. Fly over to your enemies base, stasis their biggest defenders, and recall. Ownage proceeds.

I say...
Mutalisk: Just cool!
Scout: A pretty energy-burst-cannon-dealy!
Wraith: A laser and rapid missiles!

Don't care much for Carriers or Battlecruisers.
Before you get me to want either, I'll take Archons, they're simply cooler.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2004-08-04 at 04:27:47
I'd say the Best Ground offensive unit would be an Archon...I once 0wned like 15+ Carriers with like 10 Archons all upgrades at the 3 3 3 in everything...Archons R0Xx0rs Your b0Xx0rs...

Hell yeah. Archons own all. I love storming the censored.gif out of my enemy, then retreating and merging for another vicious bit of ownage. Archons rule! Power overwhelming! biggrin.gif

Arbiter and corsair.
Arbiter, well don't need to explain really tongue.gif
Corsair: Rips apart BCs, and Carriers, or any other air unit anyways.

Gotta love the bc, carrier and arbiter. Combine them all and u will pwnAGE any1 on melee. except you have to be toss 1st to MC a few bcs.

It kinda depends on your opponent's race, now that I think about it. Against zerg, my absolute favorite tactic is getting a small mass of sairs, flying behind their mineral line, where they typically mass overlords, and ripping them apart. Nothing is funnier than watching some newb freak out when his max supply drops from 200 to 25. Harassment against overlords is a great way to preoccupy your enemy, and it will always force them to respond by heavy production of anti-air. Against terran, I'm fond of guardians, due to their extreme effectiveness. The only really effective response to guardians are wraiths. Against toss, I always prefer Sci Vessels. EMP shockwave owns them biggrin.gif . I thought I was sure of my favorite air, but now I think it's way to dependant on the situation. There really is no universally good unit. That's the beauty of SC: balance between units.

It depends on the matchup. Air vs Ground, or Air vs Air. Which is why I didn't vote. These units all have their uses, but can be overcome by something else.

Exactly my point. This game has perfect balance, which means everything has a counter. Which is why those newbs who use the same strats every game are so easy to own.

usually in money maps or most any newb playing a map, he will put tons of hatcheries in line to make a big line of units. killing any overlords they have will not affect them if they are usitng that stratagy

I love when it's terran vs protoss and protoss finally techs to carrier. I dont' know why, but I think it's very beautiful smile.gif

Battlecruiser is the best air unit you listed, because it can defeat all of the other ones in a 1:1/unit:unit. It would be a close one vs wraith, even though it can cloak it would eventually run out of energy. But a 250 energy'd wraith would win.

micro or no micro? I think any protoss or zerg air unit that can deal damage to air can beat it with micro. wink.gif

One wraith can beat it with 80 energy about. .. and the devourer slows the firing rate of units, not to mention add one damage to each spore they have on.

First, you send a sci vessel and use missle to take out energy and shields, then you own em with a group of cheap scourges. COUNTERED! mwa hua huaa

Cheap fast and dies in two hits. tongue.gif only 6 damage too, its like a flying marine, ONE flying marine. happy.gif

Corsair: Rips apart BCs, and Carriers, or any other air unit anyways.

arbiter is only good for backup, its not a very good unit to mass because of its slow firing and its bad range, its pretty bulky on armor though.corsair doesnt rip apart much except scourges. its fast rate but only 5 or 6 damage, like a stimmed marine.

This whole bc arb carrier thing is easily countered by one zerg unit, scourge, you spend all that money and some really cheap scourge beat them down. Scourge are normally meant for heavy ships.

Well, I refuse to play money maps, since I don't consider them to be SC at all, just a crippled mockery. In a real game, killing overlords is massively effective, unless they're smart enough to actually spread out their overlords.

thats true but he said that about a newb... nm lol... a newb would group them as not to be in the way
