Hacking in a battle.net game is wrong and hacking the files for map/mod making is okay in my opinion, though both are illegal...

First of all, Zealot-H8ter, please write more coherently next time. I couldn't understand a damn thing you said, considering it was all this long run-on sentence, with every other word mispelled. Arg.

Anyways, "hackers" on b.net are not real hackers. Real hackers are incredibly talented computer geniuses who are responsible for the creation of the internet. Calling a bunch of punks who run downloaded tools "hackers" irritates me like nothing else, and shows disrespect to the real hackers out there who make the internet what it is. Anyways, enough of that rant. Using stupid tools to gain an advantage in an SC game is lame, and all of these so-called "hackers" deserve to be beaten and launched into the sun. Play right, you cowards!

Even if I DO HACK, wink.gif I'm not saying I do though.
Wait, before I say anything else, ahhh to hell with it, you guys host/use third party programs for map making.
Yeah, I occasionally hack, I occasionally uses SCXE, StarForge, SCMDraft 2 also. The way Blizzard made StarCraft gets boring after awhile. When I do hack, I only hack to enhance my game play.

I think when he says hacking, its in the negitive way, not like anti-hack hacks...

Anyhow, I think hacking really ruins the SC gaming experience. However, like `BiG~kAhOoNa`said, the way Blizzard SC kinda of gets boring. Therefore at that time, u might want to hack to "spice up the game".

When you use hack game become **** ****** ***. I just wanna say that if you use hack you must keep your actions for it.

I think I'm gonna null vote. Hacking is sometimes good, sometimes bad, you need to be more specific.

.... :Shifty Eyes:

Anyways, I say hacking, as in map hack, blah blah blah, is bad. If you have to use a hack to beat someone, it probably means you suck, and shouldn't be playing it because your just ruining it for other people.

But if you use to to make anti-hacks and stuff like that, then its good, because everyone can have fun and not have it ruined by some noob 10-year old hacker.

real hackers did do that happy.gif hacker: One who is proficient at using or programming a computer; a computer buff. (dictionary.com)

map hack = bad. hacks that counter hacks= bad. reason? if they're using a hack, then they suck. if they suck, then you can beat them.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Shmeeps on 2004-08-04 at 12:04:42
But if you do something to take away their hack, and they don't realize it, and you beat them, they'll be like "O no, i got O\/\/nzored using teh uber hack, i suck, I guess I'll play the training mission 1000 time to get bettr, then I'll play morally legit, and still get owned." Exactly like that, trust me tongue.gif

don't wont' do that, they'll continue to use hacks because they're stupid and think they need to cheat to win. and because they lost, they will get more hacks to hopefully gain an edge.

Hackers are just stupid people who cant win period, so they get uber hacks and then kill people the "hackers way" then act like complete jackasses, saying stuff like "OOO U SUCK I PWNED U BAD HAHAHAHAHH"

It would depend on the way the hack is used if it's good, or bad.

For example: By Blizzard/Battle.net, they don't say "Hack". They say "Third Party Programs". Programs made by people not affiliated or related to Blizzard/Battle.net in any way. Third Party Programs can be anti-hacks as well as hacks, except the same punishment for using one.

But, we all use Third Party Programs, just not online in the sense of a maphack or a name spoofer. We use altered versions of Staredit, and programs related to map making. By Blizzard/Battle.net it's not ok to be using these, but they can't enforce offline abuse.

In the end, it would be the way you defined "hack" as what CheeZe(U) said.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by linux_junkie on 2004-08-04 at 16:49:58
The difference is, I've never heard of Blizzard threatening legal action for hosting Third Party Editors. They have done that for people who host "hacks". Blizzard seems to be okay with modified StarEdit, NOT with "hacks". So the argument that we're just as bad for using 3rd party map editors is bogus.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by PickleWeezle(U) on 2004-08-04 at 16:52:44
Read the Terms of Use Agreement on Battle.net.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by linux_junkie on 2004-08-04 at 17:05:56
Yes, but does Blizzard really seem to care about 3rd party editors? They've certainly never tried to press legal action against sites that carry these programs. They have, however, pressed action against numerous sites that host "hacks", in an effort to shut them down. So once again, my point stands.
