Since SCMDraft 2 for Macintosh won't be released for a long time, let us list all of the possible ways to make square terrains 1x1, 2x2, etc for any terrain types: Twilight, Desert, Badlands, Installation, etc. This seems like the only possible way for now since there are no simple ways to make them -.-
Apparently there's a way to do it with GUEdit. My problem is I can't seem to figure out how since it requires MPQ2k.exe to run - despite the fact that I've got MPQ2k for Mac.
Unless SCMD for Mac comes out or Ian finishes his thing, we're still stuck.
If any one would like to help me I can use it. To help you would need to know how to hexedit.
I've been doing square terrain on the original editor for a while, its 2x1 tiles though. You need a mousewheel to do it. here is a link to the instructions I wrote for a diff site.

There's an easier way to do rectangular terrain than that - basically open a map with ISOM or square terrain and then start clicking and dragging some new terrain around
. And he was talking about 1x1 square terrain, not ISOM terrain, I think.

er.. thats the lazy way.. I make a new map every time.
Its not so lazy when your method consistently crashes not only StarEdit but also my OS9 Classic. Considering I've never gotten it to work, the other way is just a better method any way you look at it, for me.
crashing classic.. thats a mac problem, not the editor. The editor isn't made for osx. so it would crash.
and once you open a map with square terain, you can't get the normal terain ACCURATLY back, in certain spots you want.. thats why i make my own every time and do square tiles last.
When I do rectangular ISOM tiles, I don't want isometrical tiles anymore. Otherwise I would have just stuck with the regular terrain in the first place.

I said Classic crashed, not OS X. I know the editor isn't made for X, but it is made for the operating system that it consistently crashes.

You can add extra detail with both types, backward ramps, and stuff
With square terrain, yes. What you're talking about is rectangular 2x1 terrain which you cannot make backwards ranps with. Therefore there's no point, in my opinion, to mix 2x1 rectangular terrain with isometrical terrain.
to have places you cant walk through, instead of using just water.. u can use the cliff part..
Okay, let me rephrase. Therefore there's no point, in my opinion, to mix 2x1 rectangular terrain with isometrical terrain in a serious attempt to have something that looks aesthetically pleasing. Having nice isometrical terrain with a set of blocks running across it looks horrible in my opinion. You may think different, though.
you could also do some nice, unseeable hills?? in badlands.. there is high grass and normal grass.. that looks the same.. but you can use it to make some spots are higher.. so you can see farther

That is a PC strong point, the editor works the same for all Windows.
Not to mention the editors. So then have some one finish up SCM Draft for Mac and that problem will be solved.
The editor works fine on my Mac, just so you know. Its this little "trick" that crashes it. Nothing else.
