Getting the "don't have write access" error even after registration. Does my username have to be formatted to PcFredz or something?

Yup. The same pages I couldn't edit before I can access now and I've done nothing different. Did I have to be approved first?

Some pages don't allow people to edit except for the "Admins".

By the way, I'm organizing things a bit. I created a References section which I think should go into the main portal. Am currently busting my butt to get all the trigger actions and conditions moved there.

Is there an easy way to move groups of articles, perchance?

ADDITION:
...and it looks like someone just undid all my work. Well feck this I'm going back to my map then.

Stick with the Tutorial DB, people.

Putting everything into a reference category is pointless.
You might as well have moved them all to clanunknown.net/reference/reference/reference/triggers/what/hi/actions/

Lesson: If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Dude, all the stuff about trigger actions and conditions are littered all over the Page Index. It's a mess.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Kenoli on 2006-09-03 at 19:39:03
Every article on the wiki is in the page index. Putting them in a category dosen't magically hide them.

Take the tutorials for example:
QUOTE(Page Index)
Tutorials
Tutorials/DropshipSelectionSystem
Tutorials/FootSteps
Tutorials/GridSystems
Tutorials/GridSystems/EdgeLocationGrids
Tutorials/GridSystems/HybridGrids
Tutorials/GridSystems/MobileGrids
Tutorials/GridSystems/PointLocationGrids
Tutorials/GridSystems/SpannedLocationGrids
Tutorials/GridSystems/UnitGrids
Tutorials/KillsToCash
Tutorials/MobileGrids
Tutorials/SelectionSystems
Tutorials/Triggers
Tutorials/WireframeGlow
If you want to see the Conditions or Actions all in one place, go to the Actions or Conditions page.

You know, you aren't suppose to change a whole mess of stuff without asking first. That way, your work isn't wasted. Small details in each article can be changed at anytime; contribution and cooperation is the key to wiki. Of course, without cooperation, you get 0wn3d. wink.gif

Yeah, but what's wrong with categorization? Categorizing things is as old as the hills. I was formatting it like that because I found that neat little {{index}} feature which automatically grabs what's in a given directory and displays it. That way you don't have to edit the root page whenever you want to create or edit an entry, as long as you create it under that category.

I dunno. Just seems kinda common sense to me.

You guys do what you want, though. I've about lost what little patience I could muster for wiki stuff now.

By the way, I did say earlier I was gonna try to organize things better. Must not have been too clear, though.

We used an {{index}} thing for the Tutorials page. New tutorials will be added all the time, and it would be hard to add them all to the list and organize them manually.

However, there will never be new triggers added. The Conditions and Actions lists are never going to need updating.

I know, but I was doing that to set the general format. There'd be more than just trigger stuff in the references section, after all. Besides, some of those trigger conditions/actions were merged together, though, which seemed a bit odd. If you wanted to combine like-entries, you'd use something like See Also I would think.

Anyway I figured browsing for stuff under the Page Index was kinda a messy way to do it, so adding it into directories would make sense.

Er, the entire wiki is a reference. closedeyes.gif

Couldn't you just use the Search function?

You can for specific things. But for finding categories of data, generally you'd expect to find that available under directory structures. And for things you don't know the search terms for, having categories also helps to narrow down (instead of playing battleship hit and miss with search terms, for instance).

And by having a Reference section, I'm talking about specific things like trigger action/condition lists, ai lists, players, editor features, etc. Tutorials on how to use those things wouldn't fall under that category I would think.

Reference = raw information, Tutorials = formatted information. At least that's how I'm used to it.
