Staredit Network -> Ideas -> RPG Main Quests

Okay, My random quest RPG has 18 quests in it which are random, 15 of them are very simple, with usually only 1 randomization that either makes the quest very easy, or harder, I have 3 quests for the 3 towns, one in each town, where the person who you are doing the quest for has been somehow affected by the necromancer Dar'o Mothlog, which is the whole reason why you are questing, to get stronger and defeat him.

For the First special quest, you are infected with a evil spell which turns you into a demon at random, the demon is very powerful and the quest is very hard to beat early in the game without having the demon form.
You slowly follow directions to find the antidote, starting from the infected person, to a dead person with a note, to a orc camp, to an ancient shrine where the antidote is. At just about each step something is randomized.

Now, I need ideas for my next 2 main quests. please note that I don't have a huge amount of space to make terrain, and it would be nice to reuse things, like the orc camp and stuff, I also have a sewer which has dif monsters etc. depending on which town you enter from.

So, any ideas for a large quest would be nice.

That's alot of switches. I am not supporting you whatsoever for you to bring yourself to your own doom by pushing yourself to do something that complicated. Try something easier first, because switches and death counters can get annoying, for different paths on different quests, in one map. For one thing you'll need to make sure all the switches don't conflict with each other (40 - 80 triggers), the switches (10 - 45 switches; 80 - 250 triggers). Also for each quest (100 - 300 triggers).

So...good luck.

Just use deaths counters..

exactly 1 Death of [Unit] = Quest 1 (easy)
exactly 2 Death of [Unit] = Quest 1 (moderate)
exactly 3 Death of [Unit] = Quest 2 (easy) erc..

Do the old, search for the kidnapped man before hes killed type. Or like a Mage needs a certain item like frogs blood or something. Think of things like that.
Or do, this monster is terrorising our city, kill it.

Meh these ideas are all fairly simple with almost no story line pinch.gif

ADDITION:
Also,

Is one example of that, I need something that has multiple steps at being random, and a monster attacking the city wouldn't be very exciting since the town already has police to take it out.
Although the viagra one.... JK, lolz

That's alot of switches.

4 switches is enough for a binary system. The first 15 switch combinations can be for the 15 normal quests and the 16th combination can then lead to the special quests.

THANK YOU, I hate it when people say that... I just wanna yell YOU CAN REUSE THE SWITCHES U IDIOT, so thx again,

okay, lets think, there could be a demon terrorizing the town, as said already, but it is found outside the town... and each time you kill it it changes form and teleports to dif places, and maybe eventually u will kill it and the mayor will thank you biggrin.gif

Or have, it so you fight the Demon which teleports to different spots. BUT to kill it you have to get it to a certain place and use an item to kill it. So if you mess up you have to do the whole cycle again, making it better. Also when you use the item you have to wait a certain amount of seconds, BUT the monster has to be next to you. You can do a seperate trigger so that if they are using that item it runs away.

ADDITION:
Another mission is that you have to make an item by mixing stuff up which you have to find. But have it so that actually making it is like 25% and for failing to create it 75%. Which will have your hero going back and forth if you fail to create it.

complicated quest...hmm..

lets say you have a talking pie monster eating the villages crops, the only way to kill is to get some super sword
to obtain a super sword is to talk to this one girl in the village
turns out the girl got kidnapped
the kidnappers want a ransom of something currency
to get the currency you have to trade a something to a merchant.
to get the something you have to you have to go into a nearby cave and look for it.

is dat complicated enough for you?

Yes, now we are talking smile.gif

Wat about my idea? I can make up more. Like you need to make a sword to kill a boss, but you need to get a ore which is hard to find. You mine it but a merchant steals it from you. You have to buy it off of him and then you make it. BUT the blacksmith owner isnt there and you have to find him.

Lolz, competition, meh, I have decided to expand on the monster idea, I have 4 sewers, I can make it so the monster is in a random sewer with tons of monsters, and if you dont kill it in a certain amount of time once you get to the sewer it is teleported to a new sewer
