I think it's called ego. But then again, if americans that were not connected with 9/11 (nobody from the people they know died or was injured), think that's it's a terrible tragedy, they must care for their country more than I do for my...
I wouldn't care if the house of our president got blow up, but an average american would if Bush's house got blow up... maybe because my country doesen't support the people because it's rather poor. I feel little connection with my country.
It shows that America managed to make it's people happy in primitive aspects of life - the money aspects. I'm not speaking about culture aspects.
