Exactly what are your intentions with so many new hirings?
1. I'm willing to try some experimentation. Or to be more "liberal", as some people might say. I figure... why not just take a few gambles and if they screw up big time, fire them. I've been closely monitoring the moderators lately, probably more so than going into topics to enforce the rules myself.
2. Increased enforcement of the rules. Some forums have flame or spam problems which need to be cleaned out. Those it may sound mean, there is some crap on SEN that needs to be taken care of. One of the reasons I hired a few of the recent hirees is that I know they wouldn't allow crap to go on in their forum, regardless of who is posting it.
3. Increased moderator activity. Suppose a few moderators go on vacation. If you have more people around to cover for them, there will be less gaps with no moderation. Plus, sometimes moderators may just get demotivated. Hopefully having more people will help them to stay active. Also, there's the issue of
when moderators log on. Having many moderators that come on at different times should improve the speed and efficency of moderation.
4. Future prospects. If a position needs to be filled later, it helps to have a larger pool of staff to choose from. As much as I'd like to believe I can do everything, I really can't and I'm realizing that I have less and less time and that I need more help around here. Ultimately, if I'm motivated and v4 runs itself... this frees me up to work on v5.
