At one time there was a map graveyard, where people could post partially finished or started maps they didn't want to edit anymore. Should we bring this forum back?
Of course, I say "Project Graveyard" now, since people might want to post up mods.

It has uses and no negative side effects. It could give people ideas on making maps or if it's an allowable feature people can finish maps.

I'd have about 20 maps that were never completed. Perhaps a few could end up in the new forum.
I think the sad part, though, is that some people may go ahead and take/finish maps and then release them as if they alone made every bit of it. Of course the fact that its posted on SEN proves it would be stolen, but Battle.net doesn't know that.

How dead does the project have to be? Do you have to have a screenshot showing they gave you permission, etc.?

I don't see any reason why not to start it again. It's up to map makers to post or not to post their canceled maps. Besides we don't have any place to post those right now.

At first I thought this was a topic about enforcing quality controls, and members could report crappy maps/maps that don't work.
I think it's a great idea. There is no reason not to have it. And I also have a few maps I haven't bothered to finish.

As for user rights... I'd just put that in the map and hope they respect it. Something like "This is an abadoned map. Feel free to edit it, but please my name on it". And if they don't... that would be considered map stealing.

This could also be good for people who want to offer start of a map, and let multiple people finish it in their own way, as well as finishing some unfinished projects.

The amount of total crap that will be posted in that forum is mind boggling. I guarantee you that every single map ever posted will be utterly worthless crap.

I know what you mean, though, and its obvious that it would be flooded with a lot of maps that just shouldn't be completed, but I'm sure a few gems could be found.

Regardless of the quality, any board games adapted to a StarCraft map are automatically garbage in my book.

Like make this in the DLDB...or will you be making a forum for this?
Cause if you make a catagory in the DLDB, peoples can just dl the map and start editing it and bring back the topic (if there was one), and start making it again.

It should just be a DLDB section where the original author posts the attached rights and people can add to the map as the please.
