Thats the Misc forum headline i had no idea where to put this so i put it here, have fun moving it GM's if you can find somewere more appropriate.

So anyways my point is, There is always the same old questions being asked in Map Making Assistance, surely there must be something we can do to stop this, its basically a forum full of lots of threads repeating each other, the tutorials don't help too much and i highly doubt that they are using the tutorials, any suggestions on how to get across a message to the people that use the Map Making Assistance to ask the same questions so they don't have to keep asking the same questions like 10 times a week?

They dont bother to check. They dont even read the rules, it says.

QUOTE(Rules)
1. Please, ALWAYS check the Tutorials Database before posting. Also, consult the additional resources of wiki.staredit.net and MMWiki.

They still dont even do that.

That is my point exactly. They don't read the rules clearly put there, so what can we do to stop them just spamming the constant "help" threads?

They don't do it for a reason.
The reason is.... LAZINESS!!!!!

i already tried to address this issue with DTBK and moose(i think) by recommending to sticky some practical* tutorials in the MMA forum just so people can copy and paste and get it over without posting wrong info.

*practical, as in having a troubleshooting section and other useful related tips.

ADDITION:
the current rash of topics is about VHP. it was hyper triggers when i talked to DTBK. wonder what it'll be next rolleyes.gif

i've actaully gotten frustrated enough about the VHP Q to write my own tutorial.

The questions asked at the MMA forum is half the time found in previous topics/tutorials, though the newbies often ask questions non-average mapmakers have a hard time comprehending (I know because I was one 6 months ago).

The old threads often solve questions better than the tutorials themselves (which is how I leaned), although posting in that forum is an easy way to get minerals. tongue.gif

exactly, the tutorials are ineffective, because they're intent is to explain something, not make it work. thats why i recommended forum tutorials with practical knowledge(as opposed to conceptual) and troubleshooting.

Short of reforming American education to eradicate the idiots around here, there isn't.

Odd how the U.S. is ranked low in grade school education, but is ranked high in colleges.

Between 20 and 35 percent of students admitted to "top" US colleges did not graduate high school in the United States.

Colleges stay tops because unlike primary schools, they don't get sued for failing students.

Well if we can't stop them from asking the same questions like 10 times a week, you should atleast get a set team to answer the questions. There is nothing funnier then a noob trying to help a noob, because they usually are both wrong.

Not to mention that people who go to college usually want to go to college. tongue.gif
