Hey, you're the staff, so I expect to hear things about SEN from you guys. I have plenty of eyes or ears of others and my own, but I'd like to hear your comments/criticisms/concerns, if you've got any. They can be about ANYTHING. Just let me know, I won't fire you if you think X feature sucks or Y forum needs more moderation. Things should be fixed before they explode in our faces and crap hits the fan. smile.gif

As I understood from various sources, yoshi, LW and their OSMAP horde are trying to overwhelm us. With their "new" SEN. I don't think I should explain any more of this because you know it.

How about we deal with them here while we can? devil.gif

They're not going to succeed. They've brainwashed themselves into thinking they're superior to everyone else and everything they do is better than others.

They don't know anything.

If SEN improves, they're automatically dealt with.

I know but I think they have done enough damage already.

Who started the drama in the first place? LW by confessing, not to mention the fact he made the damn program.

Who literally stole our domain? Yoshi because we still belive in the things he used to belive when he led the place. Now when this FCF changed his mind and we disagree he decided to erase us. Damn traitor. Let's kick their asses!

That's a good question. .. I don't think I can answer that.

I thought I was serious until I read it again. tongue.gif

Some of us don't.. I keep seeing it mentioned all over but have no clue what people are talking about.

I wasn't present last night, but I'm getting few quotes from it.

Like:
QUOTE(FCF aka yoshi)
Where's SEN? Gone, but it's not the end of map making. There were a great amount of internal politics, mistakes were made. Generally, the site is now gone. However, another great map making site is being created. One run by community veterans and wonderful friendly people.

However the site is not complete yet. When these people tell me it's done, I'll redirect the staredit.net domain. Until then, you're going to get this page. Stay with the community, you shall hear more! The best is yet to happen.

Yoshi seems to team up with LW and god knows who else. They are planing to overwhelm us with a new version of SEN or something.

Personally I will never follow this traitor, I will rather leave SC if I must.

Ok another drama was with clan Mp). Now they are kinda ok again but, it turned out that the whole thing was started by our dear lyon, as he says himself "just for fun".

Isn't Mp) more of an internal affair? I mean, the only problem is if they're flaming or breaking the rules somehow...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Gigins on 2006-09-25 at 11:19:39
Well, DTBK had to come in and settle the fight. Then it became an overall problem.

Wow...

I was stunned for the last 10 minutes.

I think what may follow is a long post, so be warned.

I came to SEN a long time ago and I was excited that not only was this a Starcraft mapping site, but it was a NEW starting site. At first I thought it would be some cheesy site that would die, but boy did it grow.

So we had maps to upload, tools, sounds, etc. I would be frustrated as it would take time to see the files get up there and such.

I had some ideas like Map Spotlight, which took I believe a year or maybe more to finally get to use, but I largely felt ignored.

Then we had the map forum and while I would post my maps, it was covered by others. Most likely, there were very flashy maps, RPGs I'd say, while I'd show what I was doing, usually simpler, more original ideas.

But then one day I stopped.

Then I just forumed the gaming section, until... well Moose asked me to mod and I accepted as I was excited for something that I'd never done before.

Well, I've gotten back into mapping, little by little to say, or rather for the fun of it.

After reading the OSMAP discussion, I never thought feelings would escalate to this.

I've personally been pro-nonprotection as that's how I've started mapping. Without opening Gauntlet Legends and rigging it, finding it was boring and finally balancing it, I would never get to where I am today. I never did it for pride or some goal of getting my name stapled into peoples heads like an advertisement on the freeway. So I do agree with what Yoshi and Legacy have said.

But since SEN has the words about protection and such and has always been that way, what other way to divide the community than OSMAP? If you do release OSMAP, you will try something that this site has never done before. But on the other hand, if you prevent it, you are ignoring about 50% of SEN.

I'm not saying which choice is the "right" one, but I do believe there should be a compromise.

Anyway, back to mapping...

Well, I've always believed that mapping was just an exchanges of ideas. You give your ideas for the common good of the society, not for personal prestige.

So that's why it makes me sad when people say, "My map isn't good enough" when they don't send maps to the database. It shouldn't be about pleasing the database people, but rather putting effort into the map, something that you enjoy to play and personally feel is good.

I'd rather have a ton of raw ideas and maps, rather than a few elite ones. It sends the message that, "You too can map with us".

Uh... dunno what else to say.

Things to do with SEN:

- Enforce a (temporary) policy or something which disallows talks about OSMAP, site quality, or w/e "hot issues" are circulating. I am dead freaking serious about this. Not only is it getting annoying and repetitive, but there is no way to "cure" these problems other than to just simply get over it. Weren't we doing just fine before LW made his confession post?
- Improve Map Reviews system (not necessarily DLDB.) I'm sure you probably know my idea about this back in those "Premium map section" threads. And maybe let me become a Map Reviews Database keeper?
- Let me moderate null.
- Get SENv5 out already man. It's become an urban myth now. And perhaps once this officially comes out, this may somehow stirr up the community.

We can't change what's happened. That much is undeniable. I remember Moose saying recently that he kept a thread open that was a borderline flame-fest just so the members could get their aggression out. I totally agree with that. Forcing people not to talk about it not only strains us due to the extra work, and it prevents potentially constructive discussion about an issue that's on everyones minds and then you'll get a series of dramatic martyrs that think talking about it and getting banned is more important than it is.

For instance, the nuclearrabbit issue had plenty of time to be discussed and fought over, but when it was finally resolved... no one cared anymore. They were too tired of picking up their swords over it. Yoshi has given the domain over to IP, so we don't have to worry about the threat of him taking the whole site down (which IMO, was the biggest possible threat). There will be complaints and protests and "factions" for awhile longer, but I believe it will die down sooner than you think.

Or just make a big post about how successfully senv5 is comming along. (Or just hold a shiney object in front of their faces for a few minutes to make them forget there problems.)

On another note, I have always felt that campaigns and team projects should simply be a subforum of staredit related & freelancers.

Rework SeNv5 to be more about StarCraft. Why are the StarCrafty features the last to be put in?

I think that Doodan can do I good enough job there, but really, it's kinda out of hand. *Syphon(MM) doesn't deny being part of the out of handedness.

Agreed on all counts. I'm going to make something nice and shiny for v5's Review system.

Yeah, we need some specialist moderators on there. Three global mods and Doodan doesn't seem like enough coverage. I took you off those other forums, so I might as well.

I'm actually coding v5 at the rate I coded the FAQs section (fast). Getting those tutorials done. Unfortunately, a tutorial section is a bit more complex. tongue.gif

Do me a favor and slow down for a minute on the hiring spree.

You might as well take off the hidden-ness of the staff forum while you're at it..
