He has no problem making more accounts and can't take the hint...
So banning "gamma" won't do too much but slightly discourage. His IP address isn't completely static, but close enough that if he comes online and posts, I can ban his new IP address and he will be gone for a few more days.

ADDITION:
What I need to do is make a script that automatically does that smile.gif

Send a letter to his ISP, attach this; http://news.com.com/Create+an+e-annoyance,..._3-6022491.html. State that you'll report the ISP to the police unless they suspend his service. tongue.gif

Wildcard ban his IP like first 3/4 or the last 3/4, I don't remember which part was changing for dinamic IPs. Like 123.456.789.* or *.123.456.789. wink.gif

And don't say you can't, because even IF has this option. tongue.gif

Heh, all of mine change. sometimes twice a day.

I don't think a single ISP can have a dinamic IP of that kind. I mean they have some sort of range, you know.

The slight problem is you sometimes inadvertently lock out others by banning wildcards. Nobody said that dynamic IPs can't be reassigned to someone else.

Well, yesterday it was 168.*.* Today it's changed twice, right now it's 64.228.75.161.

Same goes to banning them 1 by 1, they are going in cycles after all.

So either, ask his ISP to disconect him or ban the whole ISP. ermm.gif

Excuse my ignorance, but what has gamma done exactly that's ban worthy?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Gigins on 2006-10-21 at 22:25:41
lol
  • Having 5+ accounts
  • Making new accounts after being banned
  • Going against SEN policies & trouble making
  • He PM many moderators asking to show him staff forum
  • Add something I missed

  • Commiting federal offences daily, using SeN as his medium.

IF a federal offense has been commited, then by all means do the consequenting acts according to federal law.

If a federal offense is commited on this site, then the site ownsership may be held responsible, I'm not entirely sure because I haven't done much reading on law. A federal offense should always be enough to ban someone.

Now if he has dynamic IP Addresses, provide the sufficient evidence and analisis of the illegal act and report it to the ISP, this should, in theory, suspend his Internet services from his/her company.

I PM'ed him with:

QUOTE
I have zero knowledge of the specific things that you may or may have not commited, but I do know that there has been recent discussion about you in the staff forum which could regard some more serious consequences.

First thing you should do is address such a personal post directed at a specific group of people via PM towards them. There is no need to involve the general public.

Next you would like to quote the posts of which you mention. This would give your arguement much more credibility and a chance to work things out amongst yourselves.

Now you claim that you have recently been IP Banned and you are able to log into the website through a number of different IP Addresses on different networks and locations in order to bypass the original punishment which was given to you. Never try to do this, this would just cause more trouble. You could've attempted to discuss the matters with the staff on a different IP, but don't go around doing your willingness simply because you wanted to; there is a difference between going around a punishment to solve it, and going through it to avoid it.

I replied to his reply (which won't be posted) with:

QUOTE
I cannot tell you the details in that. My original purpose was to post this for everyone to see, but the thread was locked so I resorted to sending it to you via PM. These are just a few pieces of advice that I give you for future situations.

Please do note that I am not a member of the administration or the staff, I am an ex staff member that worked here for many years, now I mainly serve as an advisor, so I cannot promise anything. All I can say is that I will ensure that there is a fair discussion, wether or not it is in your favor.

I love how he posted his topic in feedback.

"I got banned from my home, now I tried school and I'm banned again, I don't get it! Just let me post."

What a moron...
