I just got Netflix, I get two movies at a time and can have an unlimited amount each week, I was wondering what kind of movies do members of SEN think are good. Post a couple movies you enjoyed watching or can think of to recommend thanks.

What kind of movies do you like? I could suggest a lot of films that are considered great but they could be totally boring to you. Once I get an idea of the types of movies you like, I can suggest a few.

Do you prefer action or comedy or drama or horror or sci-fi or anything else I didn't list?

Everything but horrer pretty much, I like sports, action, some comedy, some sci-fi, racing, I have liked some drama ones, at least I think that Friday Night Lights and all those good football movies fall under that too dont they.

They are boogyman, bad news bears (new one), and silent hill. (silent hill is the one i have had for less than a month)

The Usual Suspects is great. If you like that one, check out Memento by Christopher Nolan.

If people could post lists of the movies they like, this would be helpful. Because I am not much of a movie person, but when I watch movies I am good at understanding them, like movies about crimes, i love to figure them out without the person saying it for me, like the shows CSI and stuff, I am good at that, any investigative movies that are descent are what I want to see!

Yes, Adam Sandler is the man, I have seen the Longest yard, it is wicked good. But good idea I might get it to watch it again. Thanks for the list Devlin, I'll check these out.

Some of them are like slow and artsy, so you may not like them all. I was just choosing some of my favorite films, and I kind of get the sense that we have different taste in movies.

WHy do you think that we have a different taste in movies? What types of movies do you like, what do you think is different between the two of us?

Well I didn't like Friday Night Lights or The Longest Yard, so that was one sign. I tend to critique films more than just sit and enjoy them for their entertaining value. Oh, I'm not a big sports guy. I like films that are a complete package for me with excellent writing, great cinematography, great direction, and amazing acting.

And I consider myself to be the resident self-proclaimed film snob.

Ahh, I see. I critique movies too, but I dont get into it quite as much, and I am good at understanding things in films that poeple normally get lost trying to figure out. But I see where we arent the same. SPORTS!

My suggestion would be to rate your favorite movies with 5 stars. Then view the recommendations.

oh, ya good idea, well when I add a movie to my queue it brings up a new window with movies that Netflix say are similar. I have gotten most of my movies this way! thanks

I was thinking of getting Netflix. is it worth it? I didnt get it because i saw myself as watching all the movies that i want to watch in less than 4-5 months closedeyes.gif

ya, you probably would, but then you can get a cheaper version where you can only get 1 movie at a time or 2 movies at a time with a 4 per week limit, or you could get the 3 per time and unlimited a week. More movies come out too

My local video store has a "Netflix" deal where you pay between 15 and 20 bucks and you get 2 movies at a time for the whole month. I prefer this to Netflix because I get to see more movies in the time it would take Netflix to send me a new one.

But if you don't have this alternative, Netflix is pretty sweet.

OMG the Usual Suspects was awesome. Theses are the types of movies I like, the only problem that I had with it was that it took long enough for the story to get real interesting, it was kinda slow but got very good.

Yeah, its one of my favorites. Bryan Singer is an excellent director (which is why i loved X-Men 1 and 2 so much). He also did a relatively unknown film called Apt Pupil which was also great, but very depressing.

So, I think I will check out Momento. Ugh I noticed that the Usual Suspects was a pretty old movie too, what was it 11 years old, something like that. Is Momento old too?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DevliN on 2006-10-30 at 14:15:35
Memento came out in 2000, but it was relatively unknown because it seemed too artsy for most people. Its by Christopher Nolan, the director of Batman Begins.
