Staredit Network

Staredit Network -> StarForge -> Player Colors
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Rauko on 2006-10-26 at 21:55:04
Alrighty; so I select my player colors, and click save. I note that on the map all units change to the correct colors. I then save my map. Everything should be cool.

Except everythings NOT cool; when I play the map in starcraft or simply close/open starforge, my player colors have reverted back to DEFAULT.

WTF?!

Could someone please help me with this? Thanks.

Custom player colors work only on Brood War SCX maps.

There was a whole topic on the black color a while back, it was found that color 47 was almost black, and a total black was found at 117 or 127 I think.

Hi there! man,im triyin' to find the black-unit color (especially coz i've triyed to put the black color in my Resident Evil maps for the zombies, but i cant'..All that i've is Cyan...)

What are you talkin about? I dont' understand you...what is "color 47,117 and 127"? All that i know about SF-Colors is that SF use a colors-palette,not numbers...so? Please, could you help me whit that?

I know that i can be a noob-question,but,i need that color so much, coz the black-zombies looks really nice tongue.gif

See you!

Ok where the actual data of the map is stored. A units color is represented by a byte(0 - 255).
Starforge only works with 0 - 12(idk something close to 12). Anyway once you go past that number things can get a bit strange. Anyway if this number is changed to lets say 117 he is saying that the color will be black.

Basically in order to achieve Black you have to give your map to someone else to change it or:
Get a mpq archiver, extract the CHK file out of your map, open it in a hex editor, find the COLR section, find the player byte you want to edit, and change it.

Is that Decimal or Hexadecimal?

No, no, and no. Starforge has a box you can type any number in. The palette is just there for the colors that are defined.

Hi there! aaah thx you buddy! that's why i've triyed to find the numbers-palette and i dont' saw it nowhere! so, where is that "type-box" where in theory i could write the numbers and finally, get my desired black-unit-color?

I hope that you or someone answer me... blushing.gif

and btw where i can obtain Guedit3.6??! (coz i think that editor is a MPQ Editor pinch.gif )

Thanks for all!

See you!

I'm at work so I can't give you a screenshot or anything...but there is a textbox that has a number in it that changes next to the color palette. Instead of clicking the color palette, just change the number in the box.

GuEdit is probably in the downloads section...but it's not a MPQ editor. WinMPQ is the MPQ editor of choice.

Sorry Heimdal your completely right, I haven't made a map in idk how long.

In Starforge go to Scenario -> Players -> Look left of where all the colors are and type in the number.

See you man!

Well you don't really need it anymore(read above), but for Hex Editor look for...idk Hex Workship is a good one...and MPQ Archiver look into WinMPQ.

I believe it can save\load Scenario.chk files and therefor it would work, but WinMPQ would be easier to find. Note: Read my first quote.
