Try it for yourself

When I downloaded the starcraft beta mpq onto my comp I decided I wanted to do this expirament to see if this works. I used mpqdraft to load it and for a split of 5 seconds the starcraft screen loaded and it said

"Install starcraft version 5.0"

It was weird I tried it again but it immediatly terminated. If i could I would of taken a screenshot and it says starcraft beta but if anyone has the chance load betas mpq and click the install starcraft version whatever and see if it works this could be a new thing to modding!

But I was amazed that when the mpqdraft managed to load the install screen for beta it was right there for few seconds. The above link is were you can download it but rename the bigger file with .mpq on it.

Or someone could tell me if someone else managed to do this.

Don't we need all 3 MPQs?(Or Patch and Stardat)

What are you talking about you only need 1 which is the beta mpq.

Unless you mean installing it with everything then yes but I'm talking about like when that screen poped up it might of done it for you instead of the other way around thats why im saying if this could be a new discovery.

Well I found this in DEAD's post.

Although the SC beta server is down, it may still be possible to play. We would require a private b.net server, which is really not a big problem nowdays when there are loads of private servers. And we would need a launcher that would launch the SC beta so it connect to our server instead of real b.net. This way we would have our own SC beta B.net where we could play SC beta with each other.  It's still a theory though.

There was a topic about how to sucessfully run the SC Beta a while ago... Check in Staredit Related & Freelancers.

I checked but the big major topic on starcraft beta was deleted during the hacker attack. Also the other topics are locked.

Launcher? Phah! Just edit battle.snp at the right offset and change what IP it wants to connect to.

What big file? DEC24D.mdf? That isn't an MPQ, and thus you won't be able to load any beta files from it. By the way, whoever the heck made the image into this format? I know for pretty sure it was .iso originally.

I'm not sure exactly what you're trying to do... Make the beta playable? Then read the link Voy posted.
