STORY

-You and five other friends are on a road trip (Typical Horror I Know ><) and well one of ya just gets the bright idea to take a detour. Where to you end up... Damntoar a hellish town that has been corrupted by Creatures of the Night and a Couple Giant Cockroaches (AKA TONS). You crash and its up to you and your friends to fix the van to escape and prehaps figure out whats wrong with the town while your at it.

Theme

You are playing on a 256x256 terrain type: Badlands. The city is cut into Six different areas (ex. Outskirts Damntoar). Each area contains a different set of things you must look for and a hidden item. Fix your van and find out whats wrong with the town. Also Survive blink.gif

Weapons and Items.

There is a high number of weapons and items that you can use throughout your tour of Damntoar.

Weapons: 7 differnt randomized weapons you can recieve. There is static healing at the beginning of the map but toher then that its up to people with Medical Alert packs. Every game will be differnt and when enemies die they just come back.
M-20 Gauss Rifle
C-10 Canister Rifle
SX-228 Frag Grenades
Z-44 Twin Autocannons
R-Series Flame Thower
Essence Scanner (Detects Ghosts(Dark Templars))
and your trusty Medical Alert Pack

There is also two types of ammo, Case of Ten Bullets and Full Clips.

Items: These are the essientials to your escape. Use the items you find around the town to find bits and pieces to fix your van. These are the items in the first area.
Corrosive Material
Key
Lighter
Lock Pick
Socket Wrench
Dynamite

Features

-Weapon/Ammo system that has yet to be seen in a Horror style map(To The Best of My Knowledge). Where weapons follow civilians but are not Invincible and can break.
-6 areas with there own enemies and bosses.
-Single Player and Group Inventories.
-Night/Day system.
-Random enemies roaming the city.
-Randomized Weapons and Ammo system so you never know what you will get it might be nothing(Which there is more then one weapon you can find)
-Fixable weapons.
-Every Enemy uses different amounts of ammo. ex. Ling 1 Bullet, Hydra 2

Gameplay

Explore the city and find the items and parts you need to escape. Civilian is the unit you use to move around. Night/Day has major impact on the difficulty of where your exploring. Some Enemies disappear when its Day time.

Demo

If this generates alittle bit of interest in the community I will consider putting the first level up to play.

I would like to thank Sessase for the format that is used to display the game features etc.

And to get some interest flowing heres a SS

Sounds pretty sweet. For the weapons, will you have to reload? Will they be air units following your civilian?

I don't understand, is this how much ammo they will give you when you kill them?

How are you going to do the day/night cycle?

Is med pack a medic for a limited amount of time?

Ok, the weapons are actually Ground units I may add more later on that are air. And yes you will have to reload your ammo clip has 15 bullets and each enemy requires a different amount of bullets to kill. Answering your second question. The night day cycle is run by leaderboard and switches(If You Notice The Top Left Corner It Says 7:00 AM and Thats When Demons and Monsters Go into the Ground). And the is a medic but it can't break and I am going to increase the amount of energy required to use heal.

Maybe I don't know I don't play Bloods too often tongue.gif I can usually be found in Custom Maps or Op Mapz when I am on. Yeah I will be having a Closed Beta when the map is ready to go so I can get the bugs worked out(None so far happy.gif)

Sounds like a pretty good RPG.

Why is the RPG named Damnation? I think Damntoar RPG will suit it better as it is the name of the town.

For day/night, what difference is there between day and night? Will you see farther? Don't know how you'd do that unless you have a ghost become an alexei stukov.

Yeah I was kidna thinking that too. I actually named the map along time before I named the actual City. The reason why I called it Damnation was cause the entire town is Damned and it has a ironic name Damntoar. And the differnce between night and day is the enemies you will encounter. Thats about it, but for the seeing range I would have to cut out one player so I could use burrowed units as vision in the night as it disables your own. If I do use that Vindexus I'll give ya credit happy.gif

Nice. I like the day/night system; you dont exactly see a lot of those around. If it weres out perfectly, Ill be glad to play it once some sort of demo or release is out.

Are you saying you would turn of shared vision with yourself and then turn it on with a comp who has a burrowed unit below you? Do some burrowed units see farther than other?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2004-08-08 at 20:48:07
Hum? why you guys are soo.... complicated? why a damn ling under you? Just have to share your own vision!

Baal: w00t.gif My first stoled idea ! w00t.gif

Burrowed ling is a great idea. Simple and it dosen't distract or have much sight vision.

Watch out if you go on the edges of doodads, bridges, cliffs etc as the game might put the ling when it dosen't supposed to be or not put it at all.

Sounds awesome, I'll be happy to test it for you.

The ling will only work if there are other burrowed units that see farther. I dont' know if being burrowed affects their sight range or not though.

Um Beer, deja vu (COUGH COUGH DELETE A POST)... anyway I hope you will finish the map as 75% of mappers always say YEA IM GONNA MAKE A COOL MAP, then weeks later the thread is dead, the map not even 50% done...

You have some good ideas, but what would teens be doing in a van (eww). After all, there's air planes nowadays biggrin.gif

I like how you are gonna make each player get a randomized role in the game, really unique and one I support. I don't like games where everything is predictable.

I am guessing this will be more of a puzzle map than an action map since medic people can only heal, but I believe that's a good thing. Focus more on the story and puzzles, rather than mindless "been-there-done-that" killing we do in every map.

I hope this gets finished since it's looking sweet... Although you had a project with kellimus you never finished...

Hehehe, i remember this map baal about time ya finished it. Should finish AvP TW as well pretty much close to being done =/ Anywoot good luck baal if ya need me test i'll get on for ya (wont sleep ^_^)
Report, edit, etc...Posted by (DB)Baal on 2004-08-08 at 23:55:04
Well its not that burrowed units see less but Lings do have smaller veiw range then Marines an such. And actually I've been making this map for over a year just never got around to finishing it.

Answering Revelade: Also the map is kinda puzzle and kinda kill things but when all enemies of a certain type are gone they respawn so you never have a safe place other then in houses. And the project with Kell was just TOO demanding. Liek over 500 trigs PER player it was nuts ><

And thanks for the feedback so far everything is working out great the only thing I really have to do before I keep making the map is make all players functional cause only Player 1 and 2 work entirely.

Heres another SS to keep your interest!

And Moogle I'll get around to that I just gotta add a few of the minor things and it's good to go happy.gif

Using a Simple Test I have found that only Zergling and Infester Terran have smaller fields of view then a Marine(Which is the control)
