It seems there are ways to discover IP addresses of people, but moreover, I'm wondering how a person is able to track their personal information as well?

People have been threatening to do this to me and call my parents and I really am scared. My friend told me that he had this experience and his mother (when talking to that Internet stranger) had become very furious. If this is true, I'd also like to know how to stop them from doing this.
I'm sorry if you're having problems, but I don't think people should be saying out loud how to track people's IP addresses and hack them, find personal info, etc... That would be like saying "This guy is threatening to blow me up with a certain type of bomb, tell me how to build it so I can plan for his attack." The information you're asking for is just too dangerous for everyone to know.
There are other people to ask besides us, so ask them. Also, if someone reads this and they have an idea, they can always PM you.

Just to say: your computer has to disclose its IP-address when you connect to a website, it's not hacking for people to see your IP.
Someone threatening to get your phone number, etc, is probably just bravado. Just because someone has your IP doesn't mean that they can get anything damaging.
