Zero damage? What about rigging polls? In particular, the big OSMAP one? tongue.gif

And seriously... if he wanted to prove there was no automated scanning for double accounts, he could've just asked me.

For all we knew, you would have said yes to keep us on our toes tongue.gif.

I agree it's not the most thought-out experiment, but rigging the polls is good for you and you'll know for a fact how the system works. I doesn't seem like DEAD even cares much for his loss of position.

and how can you justify rule breaking wit an excuse liek dat? its okay for peeps to break the rules and justify it with an excuse: "i was experimenting"?

how is day justified?

Ok, 'wigger', start typing properly or you get warned/banned. I think that purposely typing idiotically is in the rulebook. Even if its not, when admins get annoyed, you get banned.

You either lose respect for DEAD because he made other accounts and rigged a dumb useless poll or you still respect DEAD because nothing about him has actually changed.
False dichotomy. There's an option C: You still think he's a worthless human being.

When's the last time you saw him make a fun map? Or an interesting post? He lives to be DEAD weight happy.gif AHKEKEKEKE

Who cares... let him stay =) Wasting other peoples time has never been a crime. <<Rhymes, so it must be true.

"how is day justified?"
It's justified by improving SEN without harming SEN. If it does harm SEN, then please explain how.
[edit]Besides the poll-rigging of course. But that's beside the point of whether or not double-accounting is inherantly 'bad'.[/edit]

On the other hand, should we be banning you for speknig lek tis cuz si hadr 2 reede?

Because it shows that the administration is not cracking down on multiple accounts. In this instance, he gave his reasons why he did it and he was fired/suspended. Why does it bother you so much?

If the rule being broken can be considered an experiment due to lack of response by higher-ups, then yes. But if you were to spam like hell and claim you were experimenting to see how the Mods would react, then you're stupid completely out of line; everyone knows how the Mods react to spam.

In this case, people have always been claiming that the Admins catch multiple accounts, but nothing has ever shown that. We rarely hear of people being caught - we only hear of people turning themselves in. And now we can see why, thanks to DTBK catching DEAD.

I'm setting up a random screening program. Ten members will be selected at random and personally screened by me for double accounts (possibly more, depending on my free time). Hopefully, DTBK will be joining me in this once I get it set up. If you've got multiple accounts, I wouldn't reccomend fighting against the clock, because you will be found eventually.

There is a rule for intelligable posts, but there is also a rule about multi accounting.

A rule is a rule, no matter what the excuse if you break it then you should go punished. Just because DEAD had a 'valid' excuse doesn't mean he should get half his suspension reduced.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DevliN on 2006-11-04 at 14:24:44
He was still suspended, though - despite the length. He did also lose his staff position. That's a pretty big punishment to me. Remember the whole OSMap/LegacyWeapon thing? Its just like that.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Centreri on 2006-11-04 at 14:24:46
DEAD's a respected member and a former staff member. I think that removing his position is crueler then a temporary suspension. A pointless suspension.

@Devlin - I still respect you smile.gif.

Oh, now you understood that he had a valid excuse. We're gettin' progress.

"A rule is a rule" is quite stupid. Why? Because all the rules are broken ALL THE TIME (even multiple times in this discussion, besides that guy talking 1n 1n73Rn3T 1nGl1$h). I can't imagine SEN if all the rules were followed "by the book". Can you? Please share if you do.

So, because I used a second account to post when I was unable to access my main one, despite having cleared it up with the staff, and never having exploited it to do anything that cannot be done with a single account, I should be punished?

Yes he lost his moderation, but that isn't that big a punishment, a 16 day suspension is more of a punishment. What does he learn from 8 days?

Created at least 2 CTF maps, GTA classic, widely regarded as the best GTA map of them all, and other maps. He loves SEN, has proper grammar, and was an exemplary moderator. You'll find that's more then you did or what the majority of all active members on SEN and half of the staff members on SEN did.

You cleared it up with the staff, obviously you shouldn't be banned if they are aware.

What does he learn from 16 days? Two weeks away from SEN will ironically prompt him to make another account to check up (if he really cares that much).

And actually, what does he have to learn from anyway? Not to waste time making more than one account?

Isn't that considered a flame, regardless that you struck it through? Anyways, why are you justifying the fact that it's okay to break rules with an excuse that it was an experiment? What if an old banned member came back under a different psudonym and did good instead of bad? They'd still be banned regardless because they "double accounted" even if they were being productive that time around.

How can you justify breaking the rules?
