I think that we should remove the change name item from the store and just require members to PM an admin who will change their name free of charge. All name changes will then be logged into monthly topics posted... somewhere.
Limits...
* No more than 2 name changes per 3 months.
* No fad renames.
* Normal rules that apply to names (ie, MerrellSucks not allowed).
Any thoughts on this?

I think this is a good idea. Some people who really want to change their names but don't have enough minerals might sometimes spam to get the required minerals which will obviously cause spam so this way it might reduce it.

Agreed with the proposal. I see no disadvantages to this other than spamming PM's with dumb request. (Good thing it's not going to be my PM's

The idea sounds good here. Some moderation to name changing will reduce the fads ( which confuse me, because it usualy takes me a while to re-figure out who's who ) .

No, but a lot of people created a bandwagon to change their names like that and spam in the style of 7-7.

7-7 was always 7-7 in some form or other. When he was going on his posting/spamming craze I think, around 50+ posts a day people started to copy his name and avatar.
