Switch Puzzle [V1.1]

In this map the goal is to change all of the beacons from white to yellow.  However, when you step on a beacon it changes that beacon and the beacons around it vertically and horizontally to the opposite color.

Note: This is compatable with both regular Starcraft and Brood War.
Note#2: This map requires some semblance of a brain or at least a good facade of one.

Specifications

-Players
•Playable with 1-4 players in single or multiplayer.

-Map tileset
•Badlands
•All square terrain

-Map size
•Dimensions: 64x64

Introduction

In this game you must use your intellect as well as occasional random stomping over beacons in order to attempt to change the beacons in 13 pre-made levels to yellow or make your own puzzle in which you attempt to change the beacons to yellow.  After a while, you will become a switch puzzle master!

Features

-Player Interface
Each player will be given a marine.  Move the marine onto a beacon in order to trigger the switch for that beacon and the beacons around it.  At the beginning of the game, player one can choose whether to play a series of pre-made puzzles or to create puzzles by using their SCV to build bunkers.

-What's new in your map that others have not done before?
•A set of pre-made maps that take you from the simplest of puzzles (2x2), to larger and more complex puzzles (4x4 and alternate design puzzles).
•A map type in which you can make your own puzzles, lengthening the experience.
•A 4x4 region where you can make the puzzles.

Seems like this.

Very well, then what my puzzle has going for it is that it supports regular starcraft, has an option to make your own puzzle, and allows you to play at sizes smaller than the maximum size. It also has the added benefit of being smaller than the other map, which allows it to be put in a far more efficient package.

In short, think of it as an addon to that map that allows you to create your own puzzle. I guess I'll add some other things to make it more unique.

Edit: Kenoli's map and mine are different in that they take different ways of appearing at the same puzzle. Kenoli's map seems to just throw you into the fray while mine seems to be more friendly for novices, so I would suggest my map even if you have played Kenoli's map.

Thanks for the compliments. =D If you have any idea how to make the map better, feel free to find me on Battle.net, post it here, or PM me.

You could try like a competitive mode or something? im not sure how that would at all work but its worth a try

That's a good idea, I could have them compete to see who could do it in the lowest number of steps or the lowest amount of time.

I would recommend as necessities:

1. Ability to reset all beacons to white.
2. A defiler. I know this is what Ken did, but before I even played ken's map I was thinking about the need for a corsair. I say defiler instead of corsair for keeping it non-expansion. It was just really annoying trying to get the beacons flipped.
3. Non-swervy terrain, aka same height level. Not as big of a deal if you switch to a defiler, but still.

And recommendations:
1. An optional emphasis on doing it in the least amount of moves possible (aka not stepping on the same beacon twice). I personally think it's more fun looking at it trying to figure out how to do it then beating it in 10 seconds, instead of stepping on beacons nonstop, which is just more aggravating.

A general problem would be that you begin to learn how to do every combination in the least moves possible. It would probably only take a remake on my part to memorize them, seeing as though I ended up thinking them up for all of them anyways the first time, excluding one where I didn't see a couple beacons on the bottom row in an alternate setup and forgot how to undo what I did. I know you have the ability to make levels, but for some reason I thought it would have been boring to do that.

I'm not sure what your goal of making the map was, if it was more just for experimental/interesting sake or to make a fun game out of it.. I think you could easily make it more of the latter by implementing some ideas, though. Good map.

Actually, I saw this as a mini game in some bigger map a long time ago. I just have no idea what it was, though.

Kenoli had something like this in his "Temple of Wonders" map. Maybe that's what you're thinking of?
