Age of Empires was my first PC game. smile.gif I love it.

Age of Mythology was also great. Despite some stupid things. (like turning into stone is turning all black crazy.gif , the cracken special attack animation bug). I especially liked the intro. smile.gif

I should paly it again. biggrin.gif

I loved the first Age of Empires, the second one was decent but I hated the third one. I didn't find Age of Mythology that impressive either... I liked the concept, there was just something lacking in the final gameplay...

Ya i know what you mean. It does need some more gameplay. I dont play it as much sence i started playing starcraft. I have never played the third one but my friend tells me that it is good.

I liked Age of Empires when I played it. This was before I got into both Red Alert 2, Yuri's Revenge and Starcraft. I thought it was one of the coolest games of that time. It was lacking online gameplay and the computers were too easy. I got bored with it. I didnt like Age of Mythology at all. I didnt like the screen view and it looks like they tried to hard to make the graphics better than Age of Empires and it completely ruined it. I didnt like the graphics, It made the building look too tall. Though I didnt play it long and I may have been just used to the way the Age of Empires looked!

I have to say that they did try to hard on the graphics. I have never played red alert 2 or Yuri's Revenge. Age of Empires III has very good graphics. I dont know if it has online play but i realy want to play it it looks sweet.

I've played Age of Empires II, without the expansion, but I haven't played any other 'Age of' games. Age of Empires II was okay, probably ranks as my second-favorite RTS, with Total Annihilation and WarCraft II somewhere just after it.

I have Age of Empires II (with expansion), I'm not great at it, but I'm really good with most civilizations, so when online (haven't been able to get online with it in 2 years, though) I usually pick whatever compliments my allies.

Total Annihilation - Kingdoms (the sequel to the game meklar pointed out), is one of my favourites. I especially like stone giants smile.gif.

Warcraft III - The Frozen Throne, nuff said smile.gif.

Because of the easy to use map editor, Starcraft is my favourite of the games I have. Though, if I were better at it and Starcraft didn't have an editor, I would play Age of Empires alot more often.

Well, Age of Mythology was the first RTS I ever played. At the time I loved it, but when I got Starcraft I realized that AoM's not nearly as good: the unit stats are presented very awkwardly, the focus is too much on massing, and, when you get down to it, the different races' units are essentially the same. A Spearman's not really different from a Hoplite except for the graphics.

Which is why I like SC more, and that's my opinion in a nutshell. I like the game, but not nearly as much as Starcraft.

I played all of them. I did not like Mythology so much, but AoE 1-2 with their various expansions were fun. I did not like AoE 3 so much, though. I didn't play it that long, about 7 games in total, but it wasn't really that fun to me.

I remember playing AoE Gold Edition as a kid. I really enjoyed it.

I enjoyed the first 2 Age of Empires, they were freakin sweet. Age of Mythology was a let down I thnk... It didnt have the pazaz as the other 2. I like Age of Empires 3 though. Murdering Indians, killing the French, what more can you want froma game... biggrin.gif

Age of Empires... Ah, good times... I started playing the first one when I was about 4 years old. I beat all the campaigns on hardest. AoE was one of my first games, and it was the first T-rated game I ever played. AoE 2 got me really exceited, though. All the new units, new civilizations, new unit training system... It was great. The only thing I missed was the lack of the 'Big daddy' cheat from the first game, and 'POW' from the Rise of Rome expansion. Age of Mythology was pretty fun, I guess.

DId you guys use the cheat codes, since it was such a pain in the but waiting for the seven builders to build a castle and such. I would always do that code, cant remember it now but it made it so one hit create. Then there were the +1000 of the source code. STONE=rock on, FOOD=cheese steak and jimmies, WOOD: lumberjack, GOLD=robin hood. I messed around with a SHELBY or two every now and then. SHELBY=how do you turn this on.

For Age of Empires 1, I did use codes as a kid, but not always.

Food= Pepperoni Pizza
Wood=Woodstock? or maybe Lumberjack
Stone=Quary? or somrthing
Gold=.... I forget, I have bad memory.

Gold is "Coinage" I believe tongue.gif

Well, in my opinion no RTS games can match Starcraft. Actually the only one thats even close is Age of Empires II! Both these games are well made; the units ain't as stupid as in newer (3D!) games, the graphic ain't too bad (imo AoE II have better graphic than C&C Generals for an example) and the different teams are well balanced (not that there is very much difference on AoE II happy.gif ).

I also like Dawn of War. The idea with building squads instead of one and one unit is kinda nice, but it has it's minuses: If the squad have one unit that have longer range than the others and it stops to fire at something, only the one with longer range will shoot as the squad will stop when one is in range and not all of them!

In Age of Mythology there was quite a lot of cheats. My favorite one was OCANADA which gave you a bear with the canadian flag on its back. The Bear killed everthing. There is:
