Staredit Network -> Games -> Don't want SC2?

Do any of you not want a Starcraft 2? I love Starcraft so much that I don't want a sequal because I believe it is perfect. It is my own personal opinnion to not want a SC2, and I respect yours even if you want one. The reasons why I don't want one is because it might have "Warcraftanized Gameplay" and a "Warcraftanized Editor". Blizzard, having made several Warcraft games after they made Starcraft, might be tainted by it. The story of Starcraft isn't even that great, which doesn't make me want to play a sequal for that reason. Plus, it might take in some of the current Starcraft players, some of which I would rather have. (Even if it brings some new ones). Also, it might interfere and cause projects to stop, like the several new editors, programs, maps, and mods that are being made for the Original Starcraft now. We are in an age where Complexity is battling Originality, and I am all for originality. Keep in mind they had no plans to add new races in Starcraft: Ghost.

Feel inclined/free to voice your opinions.

I don't understand why, though. If you do not like the game, you do not have to play it.

I have been playing Starcraft as soon as it came out, when I was either 6 or 7. And I am honestly bored of it.

I don't want them stealing Starcraft players and interfering with current Starcraft projects. (You would have noticed that if you read the first and only post in this topic).

If Starcraft 2 comes out, graphics will be much much better than Warcraft 3 or WoW cause its not gonna come out this year or next year.

I'd like more triggering possibilities when it comes to mapping. Other than that, I really only want SC2 for the storyline. SC had a real cliffhanger with Duran and stuff.

Even now, if they wanted it to be, it could have much better graphics than both of them.. At least comparing to WC3, since you can't really compare the two genres of games.

I understand that, and I read the first post, but I don't think either of them will make a difference. SC has reached it's limit, there is anything new that is coming out :\

Honestly, what if SC2 is better than SC? biggrin.gif

Then its a breakthrough of game playing.

SEN is pushing Starcraft to the limit...Do you not belief SEN's goal is possible? New maps, mods, programs, editors, etc. are coming out.

Also, anything that has been done on this site would be imidiately set out of date at point of release becuse everything here is for the regular SC, I think it will change things. If it fallows SC then I am okay with it. But hopefully it doenst change it too much!

I haven't seen a new concept map in forever. Nothing is really new.

And for mods, they are fun but sort of inconvenient to play... and lastly, do you expect new features to be added to map editors?

No they didn't... At least not the type of change I am talking about, where there is actually something NEW added to the game. Changes would be like the 1.08(I think) patch that they had on Diablo 2, which gave synergies to spells. Or maybe discoveries of EUDs...

I dont want an expansion eather it has taken years to get where we are with triggering, maps, programs and pretty much everything else pretty much everything else. I think they should just make an expansion that adds alot of new stuff like new triggers units and stuff

That would be awesome, but a slim chance they would do that.

The Battle for Middle-Earth II is a great RTS that replaces WCIII, and Supreme Commander looks like it can replace StarCraft as the best sci-fi RTS. Honestly, at this point Blizzard is only cared about raking in the dough with their $100 million a month cash cow (aka World of WarCraft). None of Blizzard's games really ever had great graphics when they came out, but that's something that really draws people to Blizzard products - the specs aren't that high for a decent experience. In that aspect, WC/SC are like Half-Life 2 with generally forgiving requirements. Nowadays, SC is a very simple RTS. RTS as a genre is moving away from resource management to battlefield carnage. There are better RTS games than StarCraft now. I've noticed that once you get some basic strategies down, StarCraft is more about the micro/macro (or whatever the Hell you want to call it) than genuine strategy. Company of Heroes is quite the opposite. You have to plan hard for battles in CoH and basically hope that your guys pull out on top with some minimal assistance instead of holding their hand every two seconds. Actually, games like Battlefield 2 have more strategy than StarCraft. StarCraft was revolutionary back in the day, but that was back in the day. What was good then isn't so much now. StarCraft needs a makeover.

Personally I hope they do make StarCraft II, but only if they can make it actually decent. If the best they can do is trash the series the way they trashed WarCraft with WarCraft III, then I'd rather see it stand as it is. StarCraft deserves either a good sequel or no sequel at all.

So someone else has made a gods map before? Dang.

I just hope if they make a sequal it has alot of the original units and features in it.

They trashed WarCraft? That's news to me.

WarCraft III was the best thing that ever happened to WarCraft. It actually updated the gameplay. While WC II was good, it didn't revolutionize.

I want a SC2, because we are losing Starcraft players DAILY. Nothing new has come out in years, and they(Blizzard), keeps slowly removing all of our progress(EUDs, etc). All they care about now is WoW, which will be their demise as soon as a better MMORPG comes out. Basicly, we need SC2, NOW. The ONE new "semi-concept" I have seen recenty, is Falling-Tiles by Niu, which isn't as revolutionary as some past ideas.
