I have been thinking of a way to come up with something new and different. A map that is orignal but what the people want. A map that is both fun and not going to be oddly boring.

For one person to think this up would be difficult, this is why I am asking you, the SEN community to give ideas and concepts on what should be in this new game.

I personally want it to be a defense game. But its your decision, when there is enough information in here for me to make a map, I will begin making the map!

I got a D map idea. Well it's not so much a D map as it is a practice D map. You can set the shape of the area, set single or dual lane spawns, add as much or as little to your D, and then send customizable waves of enemies against it. Then it gives you results based on things like:
  • How leak-proof your D is against ghosts, lings, and other stuff that fits between most buildings.
  • How likely it is to create a wall, and invoke enemy attacks.
  • Backlogging risk (since some maps make you lose if you backlog enemy waves into their spawns)
  • Stopping power, or how fast the waves are destroyed.
  • Entrapment, or how long the waves stay within your D structure before coming through.
  • Strength, or how well your D holds up against possible attacks (like from briefly walling or some such).

That might be interesting to see.

So what your saying is some type of tutorial? Or a look at how you rack up against the best defenders and the map giving u the stats to compare with the other poeple in the game?

Kinda both. You can perfect your D strategy for a given shape, or compete to make the best D.

Oh, and I forgot to add cost to that list. As in, how much you spend on crap.

Ya, I am beggining to like this. I thought of ways like testing them on how you do given a certain circumstance, like units that attack, or giving them only a certain amount of units. Creating some sunkens in some random places and try to make a defense/maze out of them with a number of units.

Oh, and one more: Flow. One way you can test that is with goliaths. If they get bunched up, then they start to attack, and however much damage you receive total is how bad your flow is. tongue.gif

Or another unit, everyone favorite are Reavers, thats to test you blockage. Number of scarabs that appear at the area of maze. Is their any other unit than the goliath that attacks on the move, the tank?

Tank and goliath. Both are technically two units, as their turrets kinda do their own thing.

you can always change that with mods wink.gif , Ive been trying to get some mappers to do a mod map, combine the two. Im doing one myself but honestly im not the best mapper I usually dont finish my stuff. So do that with the help of mods would be something totally new!

I think defences suck period...some are better than others but ive yet to see one that i really liked

There are a lot of defenses worth playing. They are a lot of fun I think. The only problem they have is that map makers tend to take the idea of one and mess it up and this makes a lot of different versions of a crappy map that is only copying a very good map. There are some very good original ones that have come out.

You can always grab all the good maps out there, make a list of what's good and what's not, but be careful to not try to just "cut & paste" or the like...

I'll stop, because I think using this suggestion will make it awful. Maybe worth considering some of other maps' good's, but I am confusing myself while just typing this far.

You can always make a defense that is dozens of little defenses in one... a 256x256 of a bunch of little mini-game type of defenses, you accumulate points depending on how you did in each minigame, the games tells you who has the most points at the end of each round.
I think that woud be really fun to play with some really competitive people.
