Alright recently I made a poll on rating your SC gaming skills and to my annoyance people voted themselves as great as being a pro gamer but this video will seriosly make you reconsider:
This is what a true pro gamer is, and it has quite a long amount of footage for you to feast your eyes on.

Someone should get an Sc replay of these guys playing, not a video.

Dude you gotta be crazy, I would have to get 20 replays, and I will have a bit of troulbe finding Korean sites where it has 20 replays all from Pro gamers but I could post a few Pro Gaming Videos on here. (not replays though but just medium lenght videos)

I've only seen the first six minutes of that footage, it's what I always see typically in almost every melee match I've been through: Mass Production, Mass Attack, Strong Base. The part where they recall or drop in units such as dragoons and ultralisks seems old. On the intro, they said "15v1", but I don't see it actually happening and the part with 2 marines and 2 medics destroying that base doesn't seem that great. Although Koreans play this game as veterans, the word "pro" doesn't seem anything new. I'm not saying that I'm as good as them, I'm just saying that gameplay was already been there, and done that. I've expected a lot though.

What. The. Hell..?
Seriously, that's just stupid... but I bet it's a big hit in south korea, or wherever they are held

Actually, in korea many people attended those classes. People even get paid for playing starcraft anyways.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Deathawk on 2006-11-22 at 12:43:05
And who pays for the classes? Parents? Does anybody else see anything totally fawked up with that? Sending your child to school to get better at Starcraft? -_-

Perhaps. Think of it as analogous to going to a soccer clinic here in the US.

Oh, lots of people. My friend took one just to come back and pwn my noobish ass (I totally suck at melee, but I could beat him before, kinda sad).
Starcraft is a billion-dollar industry, and the pros make 9-figure won salaries playing.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Deathawk on 2006-11-23 at 00:17:01
So it actually works... what the heck do they teach there... like micro or strategy... and how does it work... do you just play SC all day with some guy sitting behind your back, or do you read textbooks?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DT_Battlekruser on 2006-11-23 at 00:54:41
I'd have to ask. Whatever it was though, my friend got substantially better.
Then of course, he was really bad to start with
Report, edit, etc...Posted by smasher25 on 2006-11-23 at 04:06:42
Starcraft is like pro sports for many pro gamers. They almost make as much money as Canadian hockey players do that's how popular it is, however I heard that these days people watch more starcraft than play it, I heard SC is being taken over by some other online games.
As for a replay here you go:

A soccer clinic in the US is something much more productive than playing a video game. People that play soccer get physically fit. ..... I can't think of anything productive about taking a class to play a video game. Other than making 9-figure salaries. ..... That may be one reason to take a class. ..... What I'm trying to say here is that parents take children to soccer lessons because kids will get out more and because kids will stay fit. Parents wont look at getting lessons for a video game (not to mention paying $60 dollars for it) to be healthy for their children. ..... Except for Koreans of course. Just kidding

When you get to a professional level of something like Starcraft, you start getting mentally fit. Very fit. How else do people manage 80 APM and micro so well?
It's not like there's a huge advantage to being able to leg-press 200 lbs. in today's world.

80 APM?
More like 400 APM. I have over 80 APM.

Nothing new or exciting about this =/ It's been about half a decade since it first took off.
For Replays: GosuGamers.net (search for progamers, like "NaDa, sAviOr, iloveoov etc")

Erm, they're a little ways away from making as much money as NHL players =/ Only the very best make 6 digit salaries in StarCraft (I think prize money + endoursments for some players has put them well over 500k). But in the NHL it's not uncommon to have a salary of 7 digits, and the minimum is like 400k. They're getting there though.
To anyone who questions the validity of gaming as a career: It's an entertainment media like any other. Movies, sports, television and music. All the same thing. You have no right to say your media of entertainment is any better.
