What about a map where you don't spawn units then remove/kill them for a spell? What bout having an observer or something to aim and the spell would look like bound effects and stuff like that. The spell would do damage by lowering the percentage of health the target has when it hits. You'd have to have something invisible go from the player to the targeting thing and lower health for everything it passes over.
"lowering" health to a certain percentage is... well... not so great. Lets say the spell "lowers" HP to 50%. Now take a marine. It usually has 40HP. After the spell was cast on it, it has 20 HP. Next, take a Marine that has but a single HP left. After the spell it has 20...
So much about modify unit HP.
If you are using virtual HP, this is the way to go. But instead of using that modify HP action, you'd use something like "subtract 10 deaths of xyz".
Btw, this is not new...
Ummm, this has been used now. Your probably playing the b net rpgs which are exactly wat ur just saying. You could just use VHP and kill x amount of burrowed units to do wat ur doing.
this is been used and is being used for crescent dyne. This is simple to the stuff that we are currently working on in crescent dyne.
Considering this idea isn't new you don't really seem all that genius. However if you had been the first person to think this up -- bravo
