How can you make a unit such as a Terran Marine walk on pure null,
without zerg buildings to give out creep, just walk on plain black terrain...
i've seen it done, but i couldn't figure out how to do it. got help?
Use the null tiles lined up with the creep on the master pallet, I believe.
The null I'm using for a map I'm making lets units go anywhere on it, and it's less buggy then the creep only type.
Its tile 1-14 and you have to place a unit on it with a trigger, preplaced units wont work.
Edit:other tiles work to i just was just giving that one as an example
does it work for men and buildings? can a building land on it?
Buildings can land on most null. I have yet to see one it can't but I don't really check these things.
I know buildings can be placed, and land on null, but im trying to find out about men.
Well, i did this once for fun. but i used space terrain instead of null put i'm pretty sure you can do null to.. But in Guedit you can edit the terrain.. and set 1 square terrain at a time. you just place null terrain and for some reason i guess the game doesnt pick the terrain differnce there for you can pretty much walk on any terrain.. water, cliff.. doddads.. ect. i did this and played in b.net worked fine no crash.. but about 3 weeks later i reopened it and the terrain set back to normal.. dont know why.... but it did.. but it should work in guedit...but it does take time to place the terrain cause its one square at a time so yea have fun -_- you can also build on it to if thats the effect you wanted...

The only way to have preplaced is to be Zerg and set to Melee style, then it works perfectly, and in fact, the Computer does play! However if you place any normal terrain, and units go off the creep, they will instantly go towards that. Also you cannot build off the creep!
The only map i've seen this done is was "Terran Bound"
The trick was used for a banner... and for friends/test part.
When i saw it i was like "WTF" and later i tried it and said the same thing,
Cause it wouldn't work...
Open StarForge and go to Terrain, and choose from the Masses of terrain squares avaliable, and at the top where it is the Creep, go to the right, and choose any of those Black Stpots on the same line, those work.
I would also advise changing your Mapping Skills to Average.

ADVANCED - You are familiar with all trigger actions and conditions and have experience in all map editors. Knows how to create complex trigger systems without help.
It says nothing about obscure tricks like this... you can and should leave it at advanced.

Ive seen some pretty wierd effects with null (ex: overlapping creep) theres some nice effects u can do with it

Yeah, null is suhweet. (hoping this wont get marked as spam)
