If we leave now, We would be ruining the whole point in going over there in the first place. It would be dumb to take them out. It would tell everyone that we are weak. Also all of the people that died fighting in this fight to just find out that it was over by us giving up. That would be the worst move the U.S. could make. We need to finish it. Its not even about if we stay or not its how many we keep.

The public reason why we went there was because of the security of the country was supposedly at stake.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Mp)7-7 on 2006-11-24 at 20:24:44
Yes, and it would be at stake again if we left. The people against us would just attack the general public, the police fource there isnt quite top notch yet.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by EcHo on 2006-11-24 at 20:27:01
We are staying there because it is our job to fix what we caused. If everyone in the world was to destroy something by mistake and just leave, the world would be pretty messed up.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Mp)7-7 on 2006-11-24 at 20:36:58
Yes this is why we must stay there and the more troops the better. I think that having more troops there would do what we need to do faster and with less casualties.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Loser_Musician on 2006-11-24 at 20:40:39
We're gonna be there until the end of time then.

Seriously, do you really think even for a moment that the american government (or just about any government in the world) is honest? Or even...altruistic? I think these kinds of statements would probably go better in the Dreams thread.

Hahaha are you flaming me?

The US has the best government in the world In my perspective. If you dont like it, get out. If you dont live here, dont care then. America right now has one of the best technology, military, and economics because of the government. The only thing that is corrupt is those damn democrats.

Who says? What about when Germany was being occupied by France,USA,UK and USSR.
That was 1950-1989 I last checked. (USSR dissolved in 1989) Meaning 39 years of occupation. Next thing you know the same could happen for Iraq and the rest untill maybe another war or world war. (World war III anyone?)

The USA isnt trying to occupy Iraq. They just want to have everything settled so they can finally leave because of all the people complaining in the US.

Technology? America is rapidly falling behind in technological developments due to lack of government interest. Bush cut funding to both stem cell research and fusion energy projects, leaving the EU to pick up stem cell research and China to look into fusion energy.

Economy? That's definitely why the dollar has depreciated 20% against the won and 16% against the pound since Bush took office, and why it depreciated over 5 percent against the yuan in the 17 months since the yuan was de-pegged from the dollar.

Military? The US military is stretched thin from its occupation of Iraq, missions in Afghanistan, and constant watch on Pyongyang and Beijing; so thin, in fact, that the US can't launch a major troop offensive against another country without redeploying a good number of its troops. Also why we only have 150,000 troops in Iraq, which are currently getting their asses handed to them by a bunch of angry guys in turbans.

I fail to see one good thing the US has done since 2000.

So true, I believe that the U.S. feels that it has itself made and that peoples minds are set on we are the best and we cant be stopped. Well this is why in sports not one team can win every game, one time a great team gets beat by the underdog. Is the US's underdog Iraq. Maybe. Our troops are spred so thin even with Bush going against the 1 year rule where a soldire only needs to spend 1 year in Iraq. Well most of the troops over there now have been in for nearly 3 years. Some do not wish to leave even though they really want to because they know what needs to be done. We cant bring them back or we lose. The US is slowly going down hill. The education system is the only thing that DTBK missed. This is also hurting the US. In the past few years the US students have fallen from 1st to 14th in Math, Others follow.

Well I guess thats true. And lately the US dollar has been going down but we cant really blame Bush for this action. He isnt really controlling all of America. Only approving laws, commanding soldiers, and trying to promote some programs or actions. And overall the US is the best currently, but maybe not in the future.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DT_Battlekruser on 2006-11-25 at 00:52:48
Maybe you can't blame Bush personally, but I sure blame the Republican party for the skyrocketing national debt (now over $8.6 TRILLION), due to their tax cuts to the rich and large increases in military spending.

America certainly isn't the worst country in the world.. but then we've also had startlingly good presidents such as Clinton.

Unfortunately for the US, invasion comes with responsibilities, especially in a region which they are very much interested in at the moment.

In just 2 years, Bush Administration will be over. Bush is going to make himself look bad by vetoeing alot of democrat's laws and proposals. You can't be right at middle either liberal or conservative. but these years has shown that conservatives suck ass too.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Mp)7-7 on 2006-11-25 at 09:35:50
Well thats because he is the only one left with power for his side. It would only make sence for him to do that, even though it may not be the correct way to finish his time in office.

The Bush Administration is almost over right now. The house is full of democrats now so It will be hard for Bush to get a bill passed or try to get money from them due to Balance of Power. I believe the democrats are the problem right now. To me, they are like selfish people. The republicans arent that bad anyways. It havent really affected everyone's daily life.

I highly doubt that it does. But even if it does, that is quite a different thing from it being totally free of corruption.

I'm canadian, but I care because there are lots of innocent people living under the rule of the american government, and, if it gets its way, there will be lots more living under either it or various puppet governments it would like to set up around the world. It's not like every country is sealed off from every other country and only has to deal with internal problems.

The key point here is the american government's definition of 'settled'.

Just wait until my mom and dad turn 65 and start trying to collect Social Security, only to find that that oops - the Republicans didn't balance their budget.

Maybe the Democrats can fix it, maybe not.

Yeah, they are incredibly selfish. Deciding to actually HELP the lower classes instead of saying that it is their fault is definitely selfish. No, the republicans aren't bad either. They just are against some of the most promising medical advances ever. Yeah, that's not selfish.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Hofodomo on 2006-11-25 at 17:13:24
It's a good idea, but just how are they gonna "help" the lower classes?

-Say some officials want to pass a bill to help the "lower classes.
-Rich, money-loving companies hear of this (they don't like the new), and get their lobbyists going
-They make motions to stop funding campaigns
-No money = no legislature

Politicians need the money on their side to have a large impact. Ever wonder why Duke University's diploma doesn't say Duke on it? A tobacco company's influence says it doesn't....
