Are they both the same file type so sf could open scmd brushes too or just vice versa?

I dont remember SF allowing units, sprites, and doodads in brushes.

It allows doodads and I didnt know scmd could allow units and sprites it might still allow but remove units and sprites

No, it allows doodad TILES (try to place one of the animated doodads, for example, to see the distinction). SCMD2 allows full doodad/unit support...

While I think interoperability is always great, SF really has shown none to speak of (need I go into the details of why it breaks the format on several occasions?).
