IceCC, quite simply, likes to screw with me. I put it in C:\ and unzipped, and it did make C:\IceCC, and yes i installed the java runtimes. And it likes to bring up a black command prompt box that appears and disappears so fast, that you cant even see what it says.

Help please?

Try editing the bat pointing to your java.exe executable.
I had a problem like this when I tried to compile something; it was caused by an issue with the classpath.

Open a command prompt window and run icecc.exe there. If you don't know how to use it there from its help message, i would recommend you use ICECCUI.jar

I tried it on command prompt. Brings up the box that disappears. Might it have something to do that its trying to run DOS and service pack 2 of XP, from my understanding, nearly removes DOS capabilities? I ran it fine last year, at which time i had XP but not the updated service pack.

He does not mean running icecc and icedc by clicking on them. He means the command prompt, where you would type in commands. It is in Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt. From the command prompt window an easy way to get to where IceCC is located is this:

Type cd with a space after it, then drag the folder containing IceCC to the command prompt window, then press enter.
Next type the drive letter that IceCC is on, followed by a colon ":" with no space between the letter and the colon, then press enter.

From here you can use the icecc and icedc commands.

BTW, command prompt != DOS. (reads command prompt is not equal to DOS, just in case you didn't already know that. wink.gif ) Though it looks like DOS and uses DOS-like commands, it is still part of Windows. There are even Windows programs which use this type of interface; IceCC is one of them.
