Slowly I've been growing more and more interested in making terrain. The City Scape Contest is probably going to be alot of fun. I'm just here to ask where I can get better at terraining. You know, things like tutorials, all that stuff. Haven't seen very much in the Tutorials Database.
I've also been looking at alot of pieces of terrain to get me some ideas, and learn from them.
Any Help?
I know only Installation. The starting boost was Xeno. Then, I explored it myself.
View other maps, and use the ideas you like in your own way. View the terrain hall of fame for lots of good tips. As for the actual making, use SCMdraft, the newest update. The copy feature saves you a lot of work.
I'm not very great at terraining, but I imagine that if you just spend some time experimenting with the terrain that you want to blend you will get it eventually.
just practice, keep making stuff, jungle is good for starters because it has good tiles for blending spread all through the palette and will help you get used to looking for things to help blend, and it helped me understand the palette
ps: first post in quite a LONG while...
I'd say the best way to learn how to blend extended terrain is to watch screenshots and terrain maps which you find interesting and try to blend them yourself, when you've learned the tecniques you can start making new and more innovative things.
