Well I have two questions about energy.

First, is it possible to make energy go higher than 250?

Second, is it possible to add a secondary type of energy (for casting spells that require a second type, or something)?

Edit: Just thought of another.

Third, is it possible to lower the default to like 30 or something and then make upgrades for it that make it go up by like 2 or something?

It can reach 255 via hex editing. And no, you can't make a second type.

You could create a second type by using minerals as energy and set up triggers to reflect it.... It was ages ago since I was doing mapping, but that should be possible, right?

Of course, this would be anywhere as cool as adding a new energy type...

I think you might be able to, but to have buttons that would use minerals as energy would be really hard. I think you'd need hexing...
