Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> Moving but not attacking
Report, edit, etc...Posted by ragnarokk on 2006-12-07 at 22:40:48
Is it possible to make it so a unit can not attack but can move? I don't mean with 'issuing orders', I mean a unit actively controlled by the Player (Human).

More specifically, I need a seige tank (not seiged) (owned by you) to be able to be moved around but not able to attack.

If thats not possible, then is there anyway to make the units do no damage. There doesn't seem to be a way to change the damage on SCM Draft 2 for seige tanks.

Any suggestions?

The weapon might be under "Siege Tank Turret" instead of "Siege Tank."

You could make all of the enemies near the area where you're moving invincible. Then the unit won't attack because it can't.

um is the tank roaming around or what, if hes confined you can change the terrain to make it that he cant see other side. If that helps in anyway

i have one suggestion. you can make the players hyper-allied with each other so they won't damage each other. with hyper alliance, you'll see them firing but it won't damage. the only exception are goliaths and units with splash damage.

if you need to change damage on the tanks in scm draft go to
under Unit Settings. click on terran, then click on the blank * on the top. click on the tank turrets, then you can change the damage. be sure to change the damage on both of them.

You could set the unit's damage to 0, but that still does ½ damage per shot I believe. Also if you don't mind your map not being able to be played massively publicly you could make a modded map smile.gif

If the tank is your only unit, then you can preserve set alliance status when you have an unsieged tank, and enemy once you siege it. Otherwise, probably just good to set the damage to 0. It's under the * area for Terran, the Siege Tank Turret.

Good suggestions, all.

I cannot make the units around be invincible because that'd screw up a lot more things. I cannot have them hyper allied because that'd screw up even more things.

So I'm setting the damage to 0 (.5).

The Tank is intended to be a marker of sorts. It will be invincible. If anyone is lame enough to cheat by sitting there for minutes while a tank kills people 0.5 damage at a time, then be my guest.

The main problem is that since he is invincible the units he attacks will run away.

I guess it'll have to do for now.

you can't jsut use like a lurker? if you require the seige button to be like a switch, just sub it with the lurker burrow instead.

Or a defiler where you detect when it's burrowed. That works too. Good idea, Zeratul.
