I made this thread to see if you guys remember any fad maps out there... Maps that were popular for a while... then forgotten...

Well here's what I think:

- Room Wars - perfect terrain, original idea, and overall excellent execution

- Running of the Squirrels - simple terrain, original idea (odd), short lasting fun

- Ice Bound - one of the first bounds to be popularized... later came with a reset version

- Heaven Bound - A unique map that uses ash tileset...

- Level Up Bound - I see this many times on bnet... Must have had lots of work

- Cats & Mice in jungle (version) - I keep seeing this, but I really don't get why it is so popular, it doesn't have any outstanding features

- Cats & Mice Crystal Wars - A map that introduced a whole new genre of gaming... building and evasion... I thought it was a great idea, so I made one of my own

- Matrix 4 way 3 race - one of the MOST popular maps back in the day... It died due to lurker defenses and other types... the regular version was a true classic that taught me many aspects of staredit

- Sniper maps - I see these around time to time... people must enjoy them a lot

- Turret defense - these used to be UBER popular way back in the days... not so much anymore

I think there was that DBZ RPG called Wizards or something along that line. That was popular for sometime.

helms deep was popular and copied so many times so were lots of madnesses like evolves and i remember when i was still playing original a while ago lots of ppl were playing the cipher bounds

Room wars? Theres missions like that in Worms world party, made by Evildrone.. anyway can you attach one in here?

The Thing - Right Now you only see those "The_Thing_Reborn" and The Thing(ver.Ice) maps....But if you play multiplayr Starcraft origional...you often see a few The thing maps with the origional creators...very fun and the First Scary "pick the killer" type maps

Champ Bound - I think was called this...If not its something else...Its like a very old Level Up bound...not many play it but sometimes you can see it come up on Origional Starcraft

Dodge the Rapist - Don't see that much anymore.
Tower Defence - Used to played alot, not so much anymore
Level Up Defence - I thinks what it was called. The terrain was in an X and the units got more hp every round. I think it was by blackzerox
Helms Deep - I made a version that was popular, I felt giddy everytime I saw someone else host it . Now you dont' see many helms deep maps at all.

MTG maps are/were pretty popular.

All those old 10 way sunken and marine defenses were popular. Not many people play those anymore.

i also used to love special forces now i dont see em much except for sum new ones that ive never tried

JaKe_JoKeR Whacking off

etc...His maps were fun though...and Like in the Feburary-March JoKer Clan was the best clan on UsWest...But it died since JaKe_JoKeR lost his cd..Well the clan was sucky....

Squirle Bound - Good Bound...way too easy from pro-bounders...you hardly see this map anymore

Daegor's Rpg, Sorcery Rpg, some Open Rpg I forget the name of

ugh i hated jake_joker and i didnt like most of his maps but since i have bw i havent seen him nor bothered to go to his channel

Lol how could I forget the THING! I remember when it was not that popular when people were like "thing wtf?" then people grew into it and before you know it, theres another version of it out... Good idea with randomized killer selection, pretty soon another map would perfect it...

O yea I forgot another good fad map... WORMS!

Ghost Defense was another fad map too...

Legends Open RPG? Also Quests Open RPG were popular. Sorcery RPG was the best SC RPG I ever played. There was also that Fellowship of the Ring RPG that was around for a while. And X Defense.

Its Dead...Jake lost his Cd and hasen't been heard of in a long time...I think the last Remaining member would be ShAdE_JoKeR..but he prolly left his name already....My ScOrPiOn_JoKeR name is like an illy to me...Last game played on it would be march 24 2004..

Yeah too bad The Thing maps Were not unprotected...many just stole the map....and BAM they are popular >_<

Lord of the rings. All i see these days are helms deeps.

Sim ants really fun game rarely see it now. ;(

Aeon of Strife, DBZ The Wizard's Curse and DBz The Android Menace, The Thing (and its variations), 9999 maps, bounds in general, that Thieves RPG that showed up a while back, Tricks and Traps - the first map I saw with square terrain (I figured out how to make it an hour later ), Legends Open RPG and Legends 2, both made by GoblinLord, a great mapper, and don't forget Cat and Mouse, which was originally Archon Tag. Damn, those are just off the top of my head. Oh yeah, my maps should be in that list, too. Maybe Mission to Namek, anyway.

FF3 i saw a crap load of them in 3 days (i think 10+ games) it was freaky. I thought the age of rpgs was finally here until i stopped seeing them

Ah yes it was Quests Open Rpg I was thinking of.
You can't forget Final Fantasy Tactics.

Teen Titans-Madness map..kinda fun...Not hosted anymore..only rarley..

Kerrigan has Sex with Duke-Funny map...but hardly made naymore

Sex on the beach-First map i saw with move location triggers....good map..madness map....not hosted anymore..

Chicken Bound-Not hosted..but a good map..Banned from many times since long DL

Wiggle Bound-How could we forget this map...It is still hosted...but Rarely..And it has a long DL...so...it had the most funkiest music ever...I saw the dudes Profile (mp)13lackout)And he said working on Wiggle bound 3...yay @!$!&

Madnesses,Defenses, those are usaul fad maps one fad map is invisible bunker d its played a little bit these days.

Wouldn't a "fad" map not be played widely anymore? The maps named here aren't really "fads" because they're still played often and don't come and go with each other... well, most of them.

i beat mini town d i wish there was a final release instead of that beta it should have more levels it is very similar to the diablo abiteasier game but more fun i think

i like walling archons in mind control d^^

Mini town D is too freakin easy. I beat it by myself and ended up with about 60 marines and 255-255 upgrades. Too easy
