Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> [SOLVED] Unpassable Terrain via trigs
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Schtauffen on 2006-12-15 at 18:44:23
I remember using a technique with triggers awhile back that stopped flying units from passing a location, it was pretty sharp and they would just stop like hitting a brick wall, but could move away from it with ease.

I have forgotten how to do it, and couldn't seem to locate it in the tutorials database.

Help is much appreciated!

Thanks,

1. Please, ALWAYS check the Tutorials Database before posting. Also, consult the additional resources of wiki.staredit.net and MMWiki.

:l Noone seems to pay attention to that.

ADDITION:

"and couldn't seem to locate it in the tutorials database. "
^- remembered it just fine, actually.

I remembered how do to it, however, I still have a problem. Is there a way to do this similiar effect with more than one unit? I have 12 mutas and they are trying to pass the location, and I need all of them to stop. Is this possible?

ADDITION:
Hmmm, as I suspected there doesn't seem to be a way to stop more than one unit of the type sad.gif

Very bad news indeed.

Thanks for the link Zell.

Well, here's an alternate method that only works on a straight line less than half the distance away from an edge of a map..

Lets say you don't want any units going to the top 10 squares of map. What you can do is make a location 1x23 or so, and make it so if any unit enters the top 10 squares, center 1x23 on the unit, and order all unit at the top 10 squares to order to 1x23. The downside is that if two units enter at exactly the same time they go to the left-most unit, but it's really not that bad most of the time.
