this is the ships that transport the solider's onto the beach.
please tell me what you think of it.

Kinda stationary for ships tongue.gif
Well, unless you use Badlands with those bridge-tiles, which doesn't look a lot like a ship, there is no way but using sprites to get a metal look...
So I guess this is ok. I wouldn't even start making such ships, though tongue.gif

I guessed so. Which leads us to the conclusion that I wouldn't start a war map of this type.

Aesthetically, it looks good. In my opinion. though, it's not even terrain. sad.gif

It's much better than just making the units appear on the beach.

true ... makes it look alot more realistic +
only 1 thing wrong wit it.
cant walk on them tongue.gif soo what i gotta do is either create a unit on null terrain first and move them onto that spot or... just create at the exit of the transport.

All I can say is that it's sprite intensive.

... Why can't he just place walkable terrain under floor trap turrets?

Walking units over sprite look terrible because sprites partially overlap your unit.

A sprite overlaps your unit if your unit is on the top half of it, while your unit's sprite overlaps the turret sprite if it is on the bottom half of it. When a unit walks over a floor of turret sprites, it looks very horrible, unless it walks in a slanted line following the grooves of the 'metal tile'.

Why do you guys say they are sprites? They could be units.... (In which case they are fine to walk on.)

Take the screenshot in game so it doesn't look like crap

huh ... doodle for a start im not making game triggers yet and cant be bothered... but ill tell you that the traps and walls are not sprites but units.

It'd be cool if the bottom opens up and allows the ship to get out or into that platform. Looks like it can be an oil rig smile.gif

Looks cool! How long did that take you?

pretty neat

Not bad, but you still haven't explained why units can't spawn there!
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Marandule1 on 2007-01-02 at 17:18:37
yes i have... tongue.gif
those gun turrets are the unit version that actually fire and not the sprite one's, if i was to use the sprite one's then your marine would be under and above it while walking which makes it look unrealistic.

soo im gonna spawn them by the door cause i dont feel like making a huge amount of triggers for just the spawning and anyways it might cause a bug in the ai script.

Wow, you guys are making things really dificult. If you just make walkable terrain under it, then make those traps real and not sprites then tada you can walk on it. However I would keep the ones that maek the wall of the ship Sprites becuase it easier.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Marandule1 on 2007-01-03 at 18:48:50
no you dont understand... there is walkable terrain under it and those are the actual turrets ... still cant walk on them..

the only logical way to do it, is to create the units on null terrain sum where else and then just move onto the platform.
