So basicly Im making a mod of counter strike. Its not going to BE counter strike but its going to be a 3rd person shooter with weapons items and different scenarioes
This mod uses the best of modding and mapping. The main guts of my system involves dark swarm and disruption web. A advanced detection system with those two to detect who is shooting and who is being attacked. And there is heavy animation manipulation with iscripts to automaticly generate those spells to do certain things for the system.
So this is the summerized version of what happens: you attack it does dark swarm, removes dark swarm, creates a unit, unit attacks and dies from attack. All in like 4 milli seconds and it just looks like your guy is only attacking. All the animations for this have been either changed or replaced with a new animation that is 100% invisible.
This is still in alpha testing and planning. I have plans for inventory system using drop units on the main unit. Nothing implimented yet. All focuses are on the main shooting system.
Ill keep you posted for who ever reads this. Feed back would be nice, like any ideas you have for scenarios, spells, abilities, attacks, and anything else you can think of.

If you had read his post you would've seen that his title was just a typo, inside the post he put 3rd dimension.Thoughts about the mod would be useful! And since sen is finally back up I will post a link to the file shortly!
1st, 2nd, and 3rd person perspectives have nothing to do with dimensions. Think about pronouns. "I" is first person (the one doing the action,) "You" is second (the recipient) and "he/she/it" is third (another person/object.)
Anyway, about the mod: it sounds really interesting. I got to see an early version of this, and it was really neat. I want to see it finished. How many weapons are there going to be?
Im not quite sure on how many I want to do. Cause for each weapon I have to sacrifice a unit and all its graphic entries IE flingy sprite images. But I want to do like 1-3 of each weapon type IE sub machine gun rifle pistol sniper rifle machine gun grenades. So all those add up.
As far as iknow about CS games
there is one of 2d Count Strike game for CS fans
also that was popular in CS community
try play that u could get many ideas about weapon system or levels from there
ADDITION:
i've got and played it alpha version from what u showed the link file
after played that
(honestly i've not played that more than five minutes
cause i didnt anything get intersted in there lol )
but i saw, it has possiblity to be unique MOD than characterless mods
i've been modding based on Half-life games (CS/CS:source HL-1/2 DoD/DoD:source) for 3dmodel and graphics
Anyway...As for systems of MOD, there are a bit previous issue
first off, it should operate shooting system like as Diablo 1/2
and other 2dbased shooting games
shooting system of CS mod, should enable operate by clicking only target unit/object
cause if it will enable shooting with selft-AI of unit irregardless of player's order
that couldn't make adrenaline when player has shooting
so this issue really important for making success ur MOD
Also if u've played CS / CS:source or Half-life series
u need to know about weapons in game
in CS wepons, there are so many capability stat for each all weapons and items
so u should try to apply them into 2dbased shooting system
and if make a enbodiment of each Grenades that could be more appeal to CS fans
and here is second issue,
when i heared about inventory system of SC:CS MOD from here
i didn't get that mean... but after played alpha version
i could get what u said about inventory
yea... i like ur idea for inventory
and According to displaying of inventory that seems No problem to use
but if you could make assign hotkey for each items ( as u know actualy that isn't items )
However , i think u may need to have implementation for many game system
such as
1. BuyZone which is enable buy the weapons and items at starting game
2. game trigger for requirement of vitory
(death match, install Bomb and clearing Bomb / rescue the hostage /
and many other conditions of a game play )
3. money system : if one team has 1 win and player has kill other player
then should add money , it's not about gathering resources by work
so the game has about 8 turn and finaly making calculation all scores
after then decide to winning team
That's about my brainstorm of it
here is another advice for Graphic
basicly CS which based HL engine is Free MOD so there are so many custom
models and tools and many resources
As for CS 3dmodels and graphcs, there are bunch of third party tools
u can use CS 3d model and animations which origianal game source
w/many of 3d software and 2d image editor for this MOD graphics
and offcause u can load them into GMAX and many other freewares
and it should able to modify and edit something as like u cause basicly
CS maded for public free
there are so bunch of maded another CS games and contents out there
mostly they are all free
As for unit gfx of SC:CS MOD,
I want to recommend Catoonic style for this mod
like as "SD characters"
which is character endowed with more disproportionate features very characteristic of children
if use that style ur mod would be really strong personality and unique
I only gave the beta of the shooting system. Im still working on the weapons. Once that part is done the rest should be a breeze. Ill show you more once I get them all done or a few of them.
